Lately I've been putting together some intended future projects and consolidating the kit pile by bundling the various projects' parts together. This runs the risk of my forgetting where certain parts escaped to, but I think I can keep it under control, haha. Here are a couple of the mockups that I've been playing with: First up is a '32 Sedan I want to do in mid-late 60s style with a BBC and chrome slots, using the Orange Crate body on '32 fenders. It'll take a little surgery to mate the two. Some notes on the parts: -Revell '32 frame and fenders, recessed firewall, front and rear axles, exhaust(?), steering -Revell '32 5w hairpins, hemi headers -Ed Fluck diamond-tuck seats, Little Deuce grille. -AMT parts pack chrome slots with Pirelli front runners and Blue Streak rear slicks. -AMT '65 'vette BBC with manifold modified into Man-a-Fre configuration; 4 Rochester 4GC carbs from the Pontiac Parts Pack, topped with velocity stacks made from AMT '49 Mercury exhaust tips (I only have 2 of these right now...could use 2 more if anyone has some lying around!) Next, a '33 coupe. Re-chopped it, and can't decide what style to build it in. I'd originally intended to channel it fenderless, like the Lomas coupe, but just wasn't feelin' it. These bodies have a certain awkward appearance that almost demands tall or wide tires out back to visually balance things. Right now, the mockup that's kinda poking my brain the right way is a Ridler-contender look that combines tall bias plies and wire wheels with a set of inline Webers on a Lincoln V12. Unfortunately, the V12 is A: an ugly lump of plastic and B: earmarked for another project. No worries...there are other ways to skin this particular cat!

I think this is one of the funniest and mindcreative stages in any build, thanks for sharing!!

I don't know who is more organized when it come to putting projects together Chris, you or Dennis! Gathering all the parts ahead of time? I just make it up as I go along.

‘32 plan looks good, I also like the V12 and spokes on the ‘33.

Both "starts" are lookin' good. I especially like your plans for the coupe regardless of which engine goes in it. Those paperclip tire holders are are cool idea for mockups!

Awesome duo!
The middle version of the '34 looks great - Have you considered adding pie crust slicks and the 6x2bbl smallblock from Revell's (old) '57 Chevyto the combo?

Thanks guys! Chris--I hadn't considered a 6x2, mainly because I'm building a couple other cars with 'em.
The V12 idea has really lodged in my brain. I've since replaced those incorrect Webers in the mockup photo with cast-resin copies of a scratchbuilt Weber IDA that I put together a while back. The problem is the V12. It's such a lump that I'm thinking maybe I'll try and build a clean engine block out of two Revell flatheads. For headers I can use Corvette inline 6 headers. Might be some resin casting involved...it'll be a project for sure! I know Parts Box out of Australia sells a V12 with those modifications already made. Not sure who else sells a hot-rodded version.

I vote for the middle pic on the 34 also, & here's an idea: use the SCoT blower & Weber carb setup from the 409 in the AMT 57 Chevy. I'd also go with the finned valve covers from that kit, just because I think finned valve covers on a 409 looks so damned cool!!
I'm honestly not feeling those tall tires & wire wheels on the 34 myself.
That 32 is cooler than a penguin smoking a menthol cigarette while sitting on an igloo in the Antarctic!

I really like that '33!!! I like the mockup with the chrome reverse wheels best. I like the 409 in the other mockup best. But, it or the Cadillac engine will work. If you go with the 409, I would suggest using the blower setup and finned valve covers from the AMT '64 Impala.

Bitchin mock-ups! The Sedan looks like a great pile of parts. Especially digging the BB Chevy. For some reason no one seems to use them and they’re most definitely period correct for a mid to late 60’s build.
The re chop on the coupe looks really good, way better than the way it comes. I’d do the blown 409 with the chrome reverse wheels with piecrust slicks. I just can’t wrap my head around putting spindly Model A wheels on a 34! I think that’s getting too contemporary anyway following the current full scale trend of trying to find new ways to be traditional.

Since everyone is giving their opinions I will too The 32 sedan looks good, nice gathering of parts. I really dig the first mockup of the 34. It has almost a caricature feel to it, like something you would see on a t-shirt, or a Weesner-esque drawing with tight body proportions but big wheels and tires. That being said, I agree with Dennis that it borders on the current trend of trying to find new ways to be traditional, but in an anachronistic way. It is your vision, and like I said i dig it. So if you run with it I'm on board because I know you can pull it off. So, let me take my favorite bits and pieces from each of the 34 mockups. Stance on the 3rd one with the white rear tires is just kick-ass. The rubber rake is sick, and I like how the rear tire fills the fender opening. If you can fit the spoked wheels from mockup 2 in them that could be a winning combo. Or wait and see the LeMans wheels I've cooked up for Ed to cast I really like the idea of the 348/409, but it definitely needs finned covers. But, this is all just my opinion, so take it for what it is.

No problem, I appreciate the input...it's all just fun and games at this point! I agree with Dennis about the "new ways to be traditional". That's exactly what I was playing with...not really Trakable, though! The third mockup (1/24 Cadillac engine, tall tires and chrome reverse wheels) was absolutely inspired by Weesner's art. Sooner or later I'll do a Weesner-style build, but I'm not sure if it's going to be this coupe, or if I'll chop a '32 coupe really hard and use that body instead. I notice that Weez seems to prefer drawing model A's and '32s rather than '33/34s.

Very cool Mockups, especially I like that '33 Coupe. It's hard to tell which way I'd go for, the Lincoln V12 would be super cool in all of its' uniqueness, but then again no one is probably surprised when I say that the 409 would be a great choice as well ! But, that Cadillac engine is another very cool option as those were pretty popular back in the day. And the Chrome Reverses suit the overall look perfectly. So whatever way you go with, I'm sure it will look excellent. And the Sedan is really cool too, love the BBC with four carburetors!

Me: "I think I'll mock up the Tweedy T project tonight. Shouldn't take long." Revell: "We've heard those words before, fool. They died like flies". Me: So you're telling me I should stick with AMT??
Yeah, that engine is fiddly business. I didn't even try to mock up the suspension! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tweedy Pie body with a turtle deck added, blown Beatnik Bandit Olds mill with a couple of carbs on top. Bandit slicks and mags; '50 Ford PU steelies on resin copies of the Orange Crate up front. Tall shift lever from '27 Touring, T-style steering wheel, roll bar, Ala Kart bullet taillights, and I'm thinking of trying to make the Outlaw weedburners fit the Olds block.
Might stick a Pie Wagon windshield on there, as it's a little less chunky than the Tweedy T version. Might also build a wider intake plate and put 4 carbs on it; just 2 seems a little anemic.
It will probably sit higher than shown in the mockup...I just didn't find the right thickness of junk to balance the body and engine on!
