I started on this AMT 32 Ford 5 window in mid December last year. The plan was to build a simple, 60's style build like one I built in about 1963. It's just behind the 34 Pickup and in front of the 49 Ford in the picture below. Hosted on FotkiThe kit I used is a relatively recent DTR version of this kit. I guess the body molds had been modified in the rear window area and damaged to the point of there being any true, stock back window at all, just a rough opening. To remedy this issue I used a rear door window from an AMT 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. It's not a correct coupe window opening but I'm chopping the top anyway so this won't be an issue. Hosted on FotkiAfter chopping the top about 4 inches, the next plan was a deep channel. I made a new smooth firewall, and kept removing material at the bottom until the body looked pretty even at the rockers. The interior has also been sectioned. The kit "Chevy" engine is being treated to a variety of odd pieces out of my engine parts drawer and other period kits. Hosted on FotkiI sectioned the radiator shell to about a straight line from the cowl. It's shown next to a stock one here. This model won't have a radiator. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiThe w/w's front and rear are staying, the wheels, not so sure. Hosted on Fotki

Nothing looks quite like a channeled AMT Deuce. I guess it's because of the mega-deep channel provided in the kit and the upwardly curving front panel in front of the door. Combined with your chop this car has Attitude!

Awesome project Gary!
You should check out the chrome reverse wheels with bullet-shaped hub covers included in the latest reissue of AMT's '29 Ford Roadster and the "Wheels and Caps" parts pack. They're virtually identical to the ones found in (very) early sixties' AMT/SMP kits.

Those wheels are leftovers from the Ala Kart.

I've had a change of mind regarding the mag wheels. I have a set of 50 Merc caps that I got from Ed that would look real good on this model. Only problem is that they're not played yet. They will be this year though, as I have an order to go out very soon.
