Excellent work on this Merc. If/when I ever get to mine I will also modify the beltline. That color is nice and the repaint seems to have finished well. I agree that it really does not need polishing; after all, customs of this era did not have five gallons of polished clear on them. BTW, which issue of SAE is that article in, I may need to dig it out for a future build?

Wow - Amazing work Gary!!!
For anyone else wanting to add 1950-52 Buick taillights (with bezels) to their rod or custom, the Custom grille in Monogram's '58 Thunderbird provides an excellent starting point: Just add suitably sized bullets to the park light lenses and tint them red...

Man, that is exactly right! Your side window surround, the chop, the paint, stance, details and outstanding craftsmanship all came together,

Wow! That turned out VERY nice! Definitely one of the coolest '49 Mercurys I've seen in scale. I especially like the modified beltline on the body, it just looks so good like that. Also the Oldsmobile grill with those modified headlights is a home run! All that, in addition to your very nice and clean building style make this stand out. Very nice work. I will need to take some notes about this thing. I have one AMT '49 Mercury that I've already chopped so this gives me motivation to pull it back out and continue working on it after I get something else out of the way.
