Yeah, I think it's the fact that the cab is sectioned but the hood and bed are not that make it look a little heavy on the ends
Maybe if you lose the running boards, channel the cab to line up with the bed sides, and then section the nose (through either the fenders or hood)...

It could definitely stand the sectioning to bring things in line. You've put too much work into the bed to stop now.

sure they do, when your a cheapass and dont want a smallblock! I'm a V-8 guy, myself, but ya just can't beat the sound of six in a row cacklin' through a pair of glasspacks! Stay with the 6.

i've seen a few 6's that have hauled ass in my time. i even saw a Ford tractor engine in a racecar that friggin screamed. never discount a 6 cause if you're a good enough mechanic, they WILL run AND they're cheaper to build.

1) When it comes to the SBC vs. the I-6, it is true that the v-8 has become the more popular and viable power-plant in the world. The chevy v-8 has been used in millions of applications and gone many years on the same basic design. Having said that, it also one of the most over used power plants in the world. If you happen to go to a car show, just count how many cars have that SBC/TH350 combo in it. It's not that it's a bad thing, but for sure it is cliche. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to use a small block, but in the spirit of traditional builds, go for that odd rod with the even more odd mill.
2) Until that 50 year old I-6 dies, my cheap ass is leaving it in the truck. When it does die, I'll worry about how to get a 327/4-speed in there.

yep, i totally agree with you. i like the unusual myself. i'm not sure why, but, i like a 6 sitting in a '50 Chevy pickup.
the tractor engine that i saw in the racecar was a 4 not a 6.

Finally, i got around to doing enough body work to paint it, so here it is. It's not quite the orange color I wanted, but hopefully it will look good when all done. I still have some tweaking to do, but it's getting closer to being done. Now to decide what color to paint the interior parts.

The cab corners are painted and so is the tail gate. I just painted the body on Friday and then had to move back into my dorm room, so i just sat the big parts on the chassis so i could snap a picture to let you guys see it. I will probably do black or white running boards, but otherwise I am done with the body work/painting for now.
