I probably missed it, but what kit did you start with? Looks great so far. jason That's OK. It's a Revell body and an AMT deuce frame. It's a make-it-up-as-I-go kinda thing. ;D

Anytime! I'm always thinkin of stuff like that! Might wanna check out some of the "other" model kits, like the metal kits, for the wheels. Cool, duly noted and search mode engaged!

I have a quickie update on this beast. I am finished with the bodywork on the chop and am moving on to elsewhere on the build now. Before I did the black coat I cut off those cartoon hinges that were for opening doors. These cut from styrene rod look much more in scale. I'll probably work on the engine next. Have to scratch build the belts to move the Paxton to where it belongs. The kit has the blower on the passenger side of the motor, when every pic I can find shows it on the driver's side. If anybody has a pic of a 1:1 car with the setup the kit portrays let me know. I would love to see it.

Looking good, Dub!. Are those the red wire wheels you'll be using on this? That will look mean with the black and red.

Thanks guys! The cheering keeps me going. (even when I'm at work!) only one question, why didnt you use three hinges like it had originaly instead of the two ? I figured with all of the material I took out, if it were 1:1, it shouldn't need a top hinge. Besides, when I was doing some early mockups I knocked the left one off! TRANSLATION: I got lazy! ;D Matt: I was thinking about the wires, but Hotrodtom suggested some solid Packard/Studie wheels and I think that's the way I'm going on this one. If I can't find them, I'll use a set of wires.

312 Y-block with the factory option Paxton 'charger. You guys have just met me(so to speak) and don't know that I can't just use some old stock motor in anything I build. The more odd, the better for me! Dub, that sounds alot like me and my builds...I don't have a big parts selection for motors, so sometimes I just try to make something thats different.. very cool build man...I like how its coming together, now if you don't mind me asking..where did that cool motor set-up come from? Good luck with the rest of the build Gray

Thanks for the interest, man! That motor came in the AMT '57 Fairlane 500. The blower parts are optional and if you read above, you saw for me to get it accurate I have to modify the belt setup. It can be built w/ kit parts and it wouldn't look too bad in the Fairlane, but on a rod you're gonna see it all the time. It will bug me if it isn't right.

Well it has been a while since I touched this one. I got wrapped up in the General's Roadster and this one went by the wayside. Even with the other build I started for the vintage kommunity build, I managed to get back to work on this. It doesn't look like I got a lot done but I did get some heavy work out of the way. The motor now has mounts and the pulley set up is much closer to prototypical. I say close because the two pics I found of the belt setup had the alternator on the other side of the block because of a power steering pump. I figure the alternator can be moved since this doesn't have p/s. I still have much to do but that is half of the fun!

Nice to see a Y-block in a rod - It's also a nice subtle chop you've done on the body!
