Where are all the artists here? There's gotta be more artistic types that model too out there. Anyway, I have a goal to become an automotive fine art painter and I figure the first step towards that goal is to do many, many sketches and then more sketches. This is my start; This is graphite about 6x10. It's based on a photo I took at a local car show earlier this year. The perspective of the roof is a bit off but the proportions overall are pretty close. One of my best sketches I think. I'll post more of my sketchs as I do them in this thread rather than make a new thread for each sketch. David

Thanks Duane. The biggest problem with the perspective of the roof is actually on the side, it should angle more. After looking it over some more I realized there's a bigger perspective error. The headlights are pretty much the same size, the driver's side should appear larger. Overall I am pretty happy with it though.

...Overall I am pretty happy with it though. ... As well you should be. The drawing captures the feel really well. The details and technique take care of themselves over time as long as you enjoy what you're doing. Let's see some more!

Thanks Bernard. I started a new sketch of the '58 Impala I posted in the 1:1 section. I struggled like mad during the block in trying to get the perspective right. Finally I got it to where I thought I could start shading then I realized it was way, way wrong! It's a common problem I have a tendency to do, show too much of the side of the car, like the side has rotated about the front corner of the car to show itself more oblique. I know why this happens, the "left brain" likes things in profile since it understands them better that way so without me even realizing it I draw the side of the car closer to profile even though the foreshortening in the photo is extreme. I get to erase that one and start all over. lol. you'd think I'd learn to catch myself doing that by now.

Here are a couple I did several years back. I can't remember if I've posted them here in another thread or not. I haven't drawn much in a while, couple of years at least.
