Bob, All it takes is a good eye and 60 years of practice. ) i hear ya. i used to draw a lot when i was a teenager. i did graffitti and drew charactors or things out of my mind. i used to write a lot too, mostly stuff that would get me thrown in the hospital that sounded of madness!

Clay, all you'd really have to do is to paint a Rod or Kustom in the picture with her.

Love it! Whats more traditional than a pin-up girl on a hotrod forum! That would make a killer tattoo!

Thanks, all. I did a pinup for the previous years bonsai convention, but she turned out stiff and I wasn't real satisfied with it. That was my first year vending at the conventions and believe it or not, I sold more copies of this one than the next years.

I can see the first one as an arm tat or even a half-back tat. Clay, do you freelance at any inkslinger conventions? Do you have the knack of "dip the needle in the cup, apply to skin, wipe, and repeat"? Do you draw with Latex-free gloves on? I can see some definate inspiration coming from somewhere. I like it. Looks like something that a couple of Marine buddies that I know would have. Nice work!

I have a tattoo that I put on myself at the age of 16....... plus a couple of other obscure marks from that era, a footprint on my upper arm, bug on the back of my left hand, and several dots in various places. I wanted to color the tattoo on my arm (snake and dagger..not too original) so I went over it with oil paints. Forearm swole up the size of a softball. My mother never caught on. I wore long sleeves until it went down. ) Other than that, I've never done any tattooing. After the first pinup that I figured was too stiff, I looked at comic book heroines to get some feel for more dynamic poses... Ended up with #2. Inspiration comes from many sources. An internet bonsai aquaintance from Calif posted one of his bonsai and I immediatly seen a great art piece in it. I ended up with my "Lady with Cranes" picture. At the next convention, I sold all 15 reproductions of her, and would have sold the original if I had been able to accept plastic. As it is, the original I gave to my eldest daughter in Indiana. Alas, I do not have an image of it saved in any of my records. I appreciate all the comments.

what the hell, might as well show off some more. This is the first female/ bonsai combo I did. "Azalea Lady". This went over well. I made 20 reproductions and sold or gave away all but a couple that I have left. Bonsai Societies of Florida used her on the cover of one of their quarterly magazines a couple of years ago.

That, my friend, is cool! I can see the lady in the Bonsai! VERY inspirational, from an artistic view-point. Got me thinkin' now! Congrats on the cover!
