I've been working on this since late last year, & finally got around to chopping the top a few days ago. It still needs lots of work, but it's getting there. All the separate body parts still need to be fit & glued together, so excuse the gaps here & there. The grille is a narrowed down '36 Ford that I made from the kit's stock grille. I made the '35 Olds side hood trim from a piece of the custom taillight grille from the AMT '37 Chevy kit. I added the spear in the middle & frame around it from strip styrene. This is a resin copy I cast. I scratchbuilt the ripple flipper cap & made resin copies.

I need to tell you how much I (and I'm sure many others) welcome seeing your actual work-in-progress on your models. As impressive as the final results are, a glimpse into the actual interim state of things and the effort and insight that goes into the result is even more striking and inspiring. This will be a great early-era kustom when its done. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Interesting project Steve. The grill is cool. What made you go for the big Revellogram version rather than the AMT reissue?

Thanks, everyone! iceman555, yes, I will have extras to sell. I made 2 slightly different styles & will post later on. Not sure of prices either & will depend on if they are plated & if I include the wheels for them to fit in.
Bryce, I started this one before I knew about the AMT reissue. I had gotten an older issue AMT from a friend a couple of years ago, but didn't like certain things about it, namely the asymmetrical grille & opening. Both brands have their share of problems, but when the Revell showed up as a raffle prize in that same friend's hands, the deal was done!

Always a pleasure to watch your builds especially from the beginning. Thanks for sharing.
Oh and the scratch built things you have added are just fantastic in both execution and final product.

Steve those custom hood sides blasted me off my chair when I saw them! Boy do I like them! Sweet hubcaps too. Always good to see new custom work on a 36 Ford Coupe. Thanks, Gary

Loving everything so far...the olds trim and hubcaps are stellar! The modified grille is cool too...familiar, but slightly different than the usual lasalle/custom grille treatments. Very classy. Thanks for showing how it all begins; I'm willing to wait patiently for as long as it takes to see this build come to fruition!

Stunning work there Steve, thanks for letting us in on the show early. tho I've admired your work for years in magazines, shows and such, it's just wonderful to to see how you do it, thanks so much for teaching us so many tricks.
I had an Idea to do a grill treatment link that, did you use the custom surround that came with the kit or make your own? What plastic stock did you use to trim the grill with?
Please let us know about those hubcaps, I'll be needing at least 2 sets.
Keep up the beautiful work, It is truly inspiring!
