OK so I am new here and I am super hot to start posting my stuff. The only problem is I am freaking out about what "is" and "is not" Trackable. I have read the rules and I think I know what to do, but... I took a good look at my builds and I can find at least one thing on almost every build that would possibly break the rules. Some of the possible offenders I would not be able to cover and still see the build, making the post useless, unless you guys love to just see detail shots of frenched antennas and Appleton spotlights! So I have a few questions: 1. I have a '53 Chevy Kustom that has a Winfield style fade paint job, using HOK paints. The colors are a little bright, but Winfield used some pretty bright colors back in the day (thinking of "The Reactor" he built back in '65). It also has a lot of body work including '57 Chevy grill surrounds front and back. I have chrome grill inserts that are from the Chezoom kit (I Know BOOOO!). Now by their very nature, the parts are in violation because they are from a car/kit that was built in the 80's, but are fashioned to, and look like, like a part from the '50's. Trackable Yes or No? 2. I have a '50 Ford kustom that has wheel covers similar to polished salt flat disks, only the diameters are larger that a stock 15" wheel. Visualize wide white tires where the wheel covers were as large as the outer diameter of the white part, covering it completely. Trackable Yes or No? Any help with these questions will be greatly appreciated, I am just trying to not get kicked out before I have been here one week! OK so here are photos of the two potential offenders. Let me know!

Great questions! You obviously know your stuff well enough to critique your own work on a perceptive level. Here are my 2 cents worth based on my multi-year experience here and what goes down.
Re: Question Number 1 - Sounds like a "Hafta see it" situation. That's what Is This TRaKable? is for. If the parts in question are, as you say, "fashioned to, and look ..., like a part from the '50's", and they are successfully employed as such then, from my point of view at any rate, that would be a resourceful and imaginative use of a kit part resulting in a TRaKable outcome.
Re: Question Number 2 - Based on your description the key would be if the tires look like the low profile items that emerged subsequent to the TRaKable era. Actual period correct dry lakes wheels were commonly at least 16" items but the tires mounted on them were invariably large section bias ply pieces if they were. The look of the tire/rim relationship is the key.
From my POV, the key is always the "look and feel" and what screws the pooch is anything that "breaks the spell" as it were. Actual dates and sources of the parts have always been secondary to me. I think things have gotten especially difficult in recent years with the post-"rat-rod" neo-traditional revival which, especially for those enthusiasts born post 1960's, can appear to be an authoritative representation of the Real Thing. A little time spent looking at the actual cars from the period will quickly reveal the difference between Real and Memorex (to use a 70's reference - which isn't actually TRaKable...).

About the Ford Wheels, use a software like "paint" or "photoshop" to reduce the diameter and make it look like more tire/less disc!

I've seen both of your models online before Andy, I think the 53 Chevy would fit in here, but the wheels on the Ford are just too large. The only issue on your paint are the stripes, but it most certainly could have been done. Both are exquisite models, by the way! You should post them here and see what the guys think.

Welcome to Trak Andy, you clearly have the right tastes and attitude to fit right in here, I look forward to seeing your builds.

Hey Andy, looks like your questions have been solidly answered but I'd like to ad that I doubt you'd be kicked out if your build wasn't completely TRaKable. We aren't like that here. Welcome aboard!

Well I wondered when you might ever come join us lol We met at a couple shows in South Dakota several years ago Andy. I admire that salty rod in your profile photo very much and I think you had another car that fits that buck at the same time. Post it up! I know the car you are referring to, but I can't actually remember how it looks. You can post in this thread a photo of them and we can certainly agree or disagree...don't worry, we are all very open to learning here.

Although your name was familiar, I could not place your face. I looked up some old photos from the shows (2006 I think) and found you. Yes I have another '32 ford to post up. I am trying to pace myself. Don't want to dump everything on you guys at once! Andy

Do I see 57 Chevy hood gunsights on the trunk of the 53? That's cool! I don't think I've ever seen that before. Nice touch, and very well done cars, both of them!
