Building a 60s era race car trailer. If this isn't Trackable just let me know.
Stated with the partial trailer kit I bought off ebay. Went to work restoring/upgrading it.

Added a full axle, replaced the damaged cross brace and fabricated a front rail and storage tray. Added some spacers to keep the tilt tray centered. Mock-up.

Looks good to me! Nothing there that wasn't available in the TRAK time frame. I like the additions, too.

That looks like an interesting project! And after seeing your other builds I'm sure it will turn out super nice. You're doing a great job on it already. The modifications you've done so far already improved the look a lot. Interesting to see how this turns out.

Thank you for the comments. Here I have fabricated some hold down brackets for the loading ramps.

Didn't care for the kit taillight housing so I made my own.

Grabbed the fuel cans and toolbox from the current issue of the Ranchero. Made up a liscense plate bracket and using some brass rod to simlate mounting bolts. They're a little long but I will trim them down during final assembly.

More clean workmanship! That Cobra looks pretty good sitting there.

Who knew a car trailer could be so exciting? Sweet!
New taillights look much better and more in scale.
Now, did you size the front platform to exactly fit the toolbox and fuel cans or did you think of them after the fact and the fit was meant to be?

Thanks Glenn. I would like to say I had the foresight to size the storage tray Dennis but it was just a happy accident.

And while I'm in the trailer building business I thought I would try my hand at a lite weight version using just the center section of a 2nd trailer. Fabricated a simple frame. Lopped off the tongue and grafted it on. Mounted the springs and added a full axle. Then mounted the fenders. Current mock-up.

Love it! Great detailing and modifications. I agree--this is one exciting trailer thread, lol. The fuel cans are awesome, and I dig the wheel/tire choice.

Thanks Chris. I've reversed the wheel/tire combinations, using the mags on the full size trailer and the steelies on the lite-weight. I might strip the chrome on the mags and go with a "magnesium" finish.
