Here's my second entry for the contest: for the longest time, I've wanted to build a Fad-ish T-bucket similar to the ones the guys in the Early Times club were showing off in the mid-to-late 60s. It will be a mishmash of orphaned parts from my stash...the body is Double T, the engine from a '67 mustang kit, rearend and radiator from the Pie Wagon, front axle from AMT '27 Touring (I think??), and either a modified Ala Kart frame or scratchbuilt frame. Parts-pack blower with 3D-printed wedge scoops on top (initially I'd planned for velocity stacks, but that's more of a 70s look). It may get independent rear suspension, but we'll see how things pan out. There are some narrower slicks on standby (and American mags) to back-date it a little if necessary. I'm excited to finally be building this thing! The parts have been sitting in a box for about 2-3 years now.

Oh yeah Chris, this will be interesting to follow as well! So many good threads to read now, might think it's like X-mas every day

Damn!! Your killing me here Chris! How am I supposed to compete with Krazy Kool stuff like this one? Well it is going to be a beauty, that's for sure! You just gotta love that Cammer also. David S.

I was just looking at this orange T in one of the magazines at the store a few weeks ago........very very cool rod! I almost dropped the cash for the magazine because of it!

Haha, that would be Randy Bianchi's "SunKist", THE car that inspired my original mockups. It's a '70s T-bucket though, and I'm hoping to keep my build late '60s for the contest. I always planned to paint it orange! There was a similar black T called "Moon Kist". www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/anyone-have-info-on-randy-bianci-or-sunkist-moonkist-ts.665243/Both are examples of how incredibly f*ckin' badass the fad-T template can be, with careful attention to proportion and detailing. Note the chopped and leaned top, short windshield, no clunky cowl lamps or extra brass junk, visual bulk of the engine balanced against the fat rear meats, Big-block tightly packed against the firewall and radiator, raked stance...killer.

What kit are those headers from? Could be '68 Shelby GT.

Joseph--the headers are from the same kit as the cammer Ford engine...the AMT 68 Shelby.

I've decided to push this sorely neglected project towards the 60s with a wheel and tire package that will be removable, so I can take to the 70s after the contest is over (and re-use the 60s tires on something else). So I'll be going with a solid rear axle and coilovers so that the rear crossmember can sit relatively low, allowing the gas tank to sit on top. Tires have been swapped for the Orange Crate's 10" pie crusts. Rear wheels will be Ed Fluck's Americans with Orange Crate inners. The SOHC Ford has such inaccurate valve covers that I've cut them up in an effort to widen them...it might not go well. So, a BBC from the AMT '63 'vette is the backup plan. The '68 GT500 headers will fit the BBC I think, just need to check the flange angles again. ////////////////////////////////// In the meantime, though, I've been adapting some small SuperCushion tires (from a Falcon I think) to fit. I don't have any wheels that fit these tires, so I took some Lindberg '40 steelies that had already been cut down, shaved them to fit the tires (with the center rib removed from the inner tire), and replaced the rims with Revell '29 PU trim rings. They fit perfectly! The wheels have a small magnet installed in the center, with hubs from an AMT '29, mounted on axle pins made from welding rod. These are sleeved with brass tube because I don't have a drill bit quite the right size, and the brass provided exactly the right diameter. The cycle-style tires seen in the original mockup will also fit on this axle, so I can swap the wheels/tires out at will. They sit relatively squarely too, which was one of the most important objectives. The discs are...from a car that will not be named, lol. But they look vintage enough! Finally, the spring shackles lack bolt detail, and I'm not sure what I'll be doing about that...but I noticed that NASCAR wheels have nice lugs and experimented with shaving some off. They might be usable!

I can't wait to see more Chris! Nice work on the parts bashing/scratch building side of things! If you have an AMT '37 Chevy coupe kit you might want to check out the finned chrome valve covers in there. If they're not the same as what's in the '63 Vette kit; they're similar; but different. I don't recall now without pulling my kits out. I know that the last issue of the AMT '67 Corvette coupe kit had a similar pair of valve covers (less ribs maybe?); before being turned into the '63 tooling again.
On another note, I am really surprised that you are not going for 12 spoke spindle mounts up front?! They are The 'T' wheel in my mind!

I only have one set of spindle-mounts and I need 'em for the Bantam Altered project! Maybe I could cheat and just swap them back and forth for photos, lol.

What about putting out a 'wanted' ad? When I am in need of a part I'm not afraid to ask around! LOL!
