well here we go! first of all, thanks to my good friend Ed Fluck for this kit and the interior he mastered to go with it! Thanks to my good friend Bob Dudek for the lake pipes he gave to me several years ago. I am unsure if I will use the pipes on this build but trying them on. I am thinking a two tone paint job along the lines of a factory, but not factory colors...flakes and white most likely! It's on my bench, let's see how this goes after 7yrs since I worked on a model dedicated. Feel free to make suggestions and throw me ideas...who knows haha EDIT i am not decided on the wheels..might be fat whites with caps these are the parts to go with the lakes... just an FYI due to the plain look in mock up

56 Merc caps from Modelhaus...and Firestones from Modelhaus. I think I like this better. The stance is not set obviously.

Personally, I'd find something right in the middle as far as white wall width......which should be easy enough to do. AMT's recent reissue of the '36 Ford coupe has a real nice set!

The second set looks much better, but like Ed says, maybe something in between... the first set look more '40s to me. Someone on the MCM forum posted a few fixes for the Revell '57 body. IIRC, the contours around the front wheel arch are wrong and the header panel above the grille is too thick. If you have an old AMT body for comparison, that is more accurate. Or, forget rivet counting and just have fun building it.

Acouple guys in KKIM have built these, and typically they swap out the bottom of the rear quarter panels for pieces from the AMT 57.
Randfink, can you share?
BTW, glad to see you back at the bench Bob. Don't let us overwhelm you with proposed mods to this build. It's all about having fun, right?

Good to see you back by the bench Bob!
If you happen to have some in your stash, I think the tires from Revell's '58/'59 Corvette would suit the style of this build exceptionally well.

Thanks for all the input guys! I think you're right, I will see if I can find something in the middle. I remember some of the reissue AMT had those tires are talking about I don't think I have any but I will take a look. While the body doesn't look a hundred percent I'm just going to go with it just doing something for fun here. I never was one for correcting imperfections unless it was swirl marks or dips or something. The Revell chopped Mercury was a kit I was excited about until all of the post about how horrible the chop was LOL needless to say I never even started it.

Glad to see you working on something, Bob! Love the '56 Merc caps. They need a narrower WW, like 2 1/2 or 3 scale inches.

wow im torn! maybe thin white walls ? trying not to over think this..but this is how i was before, so i gotta do it with lots of brain melting haha! I go through the same thing Bob. I'll wear a suspension out trying different wheels and tires. They make or break a model to me. I've even switched them out after they're built. I started one of these X years ago. I only got as far as making the body corrections.

Curiosity has me, what are the modifications that can be made to the body?
I also feel the same way, the wheels make or break in my opinion as well which is why I always end up trying to choose Wheels before I build anything LOL

I know, shouldn't take all the fun out of it... Still, Bob, if you want to go to town, here's the thread: www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/104790-revell-57-ford-sedan-starting-corrections/All that is the reason mine's still in the box.
