Awhile back I restarted work on my stalled Autorama entry by finishing up the bodywork. I also decided to go with the wider WWs instead of the pinners.
The challenge with this model has been the repetitive sessions of bodywork refinement, especially around the corrected rear wheel openings. Here's a comparison between the project car on top and an original, unmodified kit on the bottom.
I also had to reconstruct the glue-damaged vent window frames on the '59 Plymouth roof used to replace the broken Dodge roof. Then added some weather stripping inside the side window openings. The door handles and the "Custom Royal" script with its background trim were shaved off.
I opted to cut off the original taillights bezels, reshape them slightly, then have them plated. The original lenses were replaced with transparent red bullets from the first issue AMT '57 T-bird. And, as usual, made some tailpipe extensions from styrene tube.
Wheelwells were added to JoHan's simple chassis, as well as material along the sides, to give the underside of the model a more finished look and to prevent viewers being able to see inside the body through the wheel openings.
Next steps call for refining the fit of the interior, making vent window panes, and scratching the standard Mopar dash-top rear view mirror. I've also got my heart set on one of those cool squared-off '60 Plymouth steering wheels for this car – anybody have one?!
Ditto! And I like the wire wheels, too. Looks much cleaner with some of the clutter pulled off, like those trident hashmarks on the quarters. They're cool, but attract too much attention to themselves... This car is going to be a winner for sure.

I've never seen such a dramatic change to the look of a car as shaving the door handles and gingerbread trim off this car has done. It's spectacular. The dramatic sweep of the fins and the arch of the roof line just come alive with this simple change. What a beauty!
I'm a bit late to the party, but this looks really good so far. Your body mods work perfectly on this body style, but at the same time they are so subtle that a "normal person" might not notice what has been done. Interesting to see more pictures how this continues!
This is a good spot to drop a quick note or ask for help. If you are in a bad mood, this isn't the right spot to drop feelings. Thanks for understanding!
krassandbernie: I can't believe that no one here is interested in the '32 Ford 'seconds' that I posted up recently? Are you guys missing the posts by chance?
