I think it needs six little So Cal 'frog-mouth' scoops. I don't recall if Chris drew them up for 3D printing or not? I know he did the 4 barrel sized scoops; but not sure about the little 2 barrels.....Chris?

Look closely in the closeup from one of my previous pics, strategically held in clothes pins for painting...

Dude, get out of my head. Look closely in the closeup from one of my previous pics, strategically held in clothes pins for painting... I totally missed the blurred out clothes pins holding the scoops! LOL! I'm not calling you out for missing it. It's blurry clutter in the background. Just shows my messy bench and the fact I was too lazy to set up my mini photo booth BTW, got the chopped top, it looks great. Hope to finish this up this weekend!

Wicked The up-top is super classy. Parts note: Those 3D printed wedge scoops are meant to be Cal Custom "40-30" scoops. The scoops I know as "frog mouths" are the ones featured in the Revell Tweedy Pie kit.

I stand corrected............just couldn't remember what the Cal Custom scoops were called when I replied earlier! LOL!

That's really looking good. I like your change from injectors to carbs for this one. The copper color on the wheels and engine works very well. Keep up the good work!

The scoops I know as "frog mouths" are the ones featured in the Revell Tweedy Pie kit. Well here are Maple Leaf Modelworks beautiful Cal Custom 40-30 scoops, installed. They have been lightly sanded and then treated to a coat of Molotow. I probably could have sanded them a bit more, but I'm very happy with how they turned out. Got some paint on the newly received chopped uptop(it received a shot of flat clear after this pic). I was unable to finish this up this holiday weekend due to not having the right size aluminum tube in my stash to finish the bedside exhausts. It is very close though, so this will be the final update before it hits the shelf...

If I am brutally honest here I would have to admit that I was not really feeling this project at the start. It had more to do with the body style than anything else. But now that I see it nearing completion I have to say it really brings a smile to my face; and not because you built it from my castings; but rather due to what a fine model it has turned out to be! I love everything about it; and you know that I gravitate towards the mid to late sixties era when it comes to hot rods...........that's saying something for a model with no mag wheels under it! LOL! I'll say this now rather than repeat myself in the comments when you get it posted in the 'on the shelf' section. You really created a fine piece of art here Craig!
ps. I'm not sure yet how I'll feel about the exhaust pipes running up and down the bed sides; but I think I'd like it that way just as much as straight out the back under the bed. One suggestion here from a visual stand point would be the angle cut the exhaust pipe back and have it end just about where the edge of the tonneau cover ends. The angle cut would give it that 'going fast' look and add just enough character vs a straight cut pipe. Every detail should be done for a reason.......with a purpose.

I really like the color combo and it's fantastic to finally see some of those scoops in use!! This car, with its 2-tone paint job and mix of early vs later details (artillery style wheels vs. wedge scoops on Poncho OHV) calls to mind some of the Street Rodder "Road Tour" cars. "You could win this Roadster pick-up!"
