This model has been how I would imagine a bad divorce to be. You fight and fight 'til you get to the point that you say, "Here's my balls and half my shit. Where do I sign?" I had so many issues with this build! No fault of the kit. All my doing. There were times I wanted to set it under a heat lamp and melt the damn thing right onto the bench! But, determination set in and I finally pushed through it. But, I won't be building any more hot rods for a long long time!
Not a lot of modifications. But, several others had to be made which was what was so frustrating! Engine is the Revell Parts Pack Cadillac engine with the four carburetors/intake and a scratch built breather. I had to notch the firewall to get it to fit. I thought I had made enough room for the fan. But no. So, I used the radiator and electric fan from the '32. It also supplied the front axle, four bars, rearend, wheels/ tires, steering column/wheel and the seat. Paint is Tamiya AS-19 Intermediate Navy Blue with only one coat of clear. It's the worst paint job I've done in decades! When I sprayed a second coat on the grille and bed, the yellow from the styrene leached through in places! First time that's ever happened to me with a molded in color! So, I shot another coat of paint, a coat of clear and lightly polished it. It's orange peeled in places 'til hell wouldn't even have it! Other than those issues, it went great!
Looks beautiful to me! I dig the paint color and matching blue-stripe tires in particular. Very natty. Put that sucker on the shelf, after a while you'll forget about the blemishes and the overall impression will remain...and it makes a good impression
Does that weird air cleaner come with the parts-pack Caddy engine? Funny I've never noticed it before...it's an interesting piece!
The paint looks fine...and your comments have me thinking of my own '34 build, tail between my legs right now because the orange peel is so effing bad I'm embarrassed to continue with it but too frustrated to strip the paint and go back to square one!

I totally get that, sometimes you get a kit that just doesn't want to be built. I had a Revell '50 Ford p.u. that was like that. Heck even glue wouldn't hold any of the parts together. I finally "signed the papers" and disposed of it in an appropriate manner.
Your build came out great. I like the whole overall look you achieved, especially with the color and wheel and tire package. Very clean. Well done!
If your not grown up by the time you're 60.....you don't have too!
Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments! I'm glad to have this one done!
Chris, the breather is scratch built. I want to replace it at some time with four small breathers.
Cool, that would explain why I've never seen it before! I shouldn't have said "weird", as that implies disapproval...how about "unusual" or "something I've never encountered before". I think it's a neat accent piece that gives the truck its own character....I wouldn't be in a hurry to replace it!
This is a good spot to drop a quick note or ask for help. If you are in a bad mood, this isn't the right spot to drop feelings. Thanks for understanding!

krassandbernie: Yup! I have 3 that are 'seconds'.......which are nicer than what you'd get most anywhere else; or you can just order one. Send me a pm if you are still interested; and we can go from there.
