Thanks Gary! This color really pops out after polishing. I might have to buy another can for some future projects also. Driver needed some putty as there was a little gap between his arms and rest of the body. After a bit of putty and sanding, it was ready for paint. The driver was painted with a couple of different colors. I had a little issue with the blue that I used for his jacket. For some reason the paint dried glossy so I decided to brush paint some Humbrol flat clear on it. I know Humbrol clear turns yellow over time, but it probably won't be a big problem with a dark color like this. Front axle was painted with Revell's 91 silver. The area between the axle and leaf spring was painted flat black and the spring itself was finished with some black wash by The Detailer. Headers were painted flat white. Valve covers were shot with "Chrome Silver" from a spray can. Then I added a set of spark plug wires using Scale Productions' black spark plug wire. Then after some final assembly, this thing is completed! Everything fit really well on place, there was no need to modify anything to make it fit right. It feels really good to have something finally finished...I already thought I'd finish nothing this year, but luckily I was able to pull this one out. It's definitely the fastest project I've finished in years, with under two months from start to finish! But, of course, it has the lowest parts count as well! And even though it's not perfect, it looks good on the shelf. Tomorrow I'll take some better pictures so I can post it in "On The Shelf"...Stay Tuned.

I had a question about the choice of a metallic color, but with the high quality of gloss you attained it looks just right. The interesting thing is you never "fought" the original model, just enhanced it, and subtly enough at that, so, while it lost most of it's toy like aspects (a good thing), it still does full justice to the original model designer's vision, IMHO. Looking forward to the final presentation pics.

Thanks Bernard, I appreciate the kind words! The plan was exactly like you said, to preserve the originality of this legendary kit, but do it with some subtle modifications here and there. I think that was pretty succesful. With more modifications, this could be made even more realistic. That might happen sometime in the future if I find another kit. I just posted a thread in "On The Shelf" section of the forum: trakinscale.proboards.com/thread/19082/monogram-long-john-dragsterI want to say thanks to everyone who has been following this thing come together. Now on to the next one.
