Agreed, Skip. That's part of the reason I haven't started my attempt yet...I'm not in a hurry to get that trophy >.<

Thanks, guys! Yeah, it was a bunch of work to fix all of the foibles on this kit, but I love the challenge of it.

That is a really nice '36 Randy! Love the color, headlights and grille! If this doesn't make one want to build a '36, check for a pulse! Nice work!

OH WoW! I just dug my ‘36 out of its plastic baggies in the box,,, the Trophy may not be big enough! I’ve already decided that it will get a set of Mr. Eduardo the Magnificent Resin Maestro and all around swell Guy’s louvered hoods and side kits!!! I hadn’t remembered the last ‘36 I built being so flashy! If I were making that old MEK and plastic bits plastic putty this kit would probably feed enough plastic flashy bits to putty up 4 or 5 all out Kustoms! The resin and P.E. La Salle grill shell looks rather promising, at least it is promising a whole lot of tedious fitting and bodywork! Those decals are sure nice though! Already decided on Incan Gold exterior, crimson or maybe darker reddish leather with white and gold interior. I’m just in the parts collecting mode so far, not to mention it’s busy with commissions for Christmas that I’ve got to get busting my bum on!
Questions/Rambling Comments…
How much trouble did you have with fitting the chopped roof onto the body, tips, tricks.... I do remember the last ‘36 I built having rather ill fitting hood and sides how were yours for fit the stock sides not Ed’s resin hood? Last one I built was a Roadster, I can assure you that bodywork and top didn’t fit really well either, the roadster bodywork in this kit has a spiral (twisted) warp to it. I think that was part of the issue with the last one. I looked at the smooth custom hood sides, there seems to be a lot of sink mark or ghosting where they smoothed them out. Skim coat of bondo might straighten it out with some sanding and fitting! As some of these kits age they should bump them up in skill level! I’d hate to see some newer modeler get ahold of this kit it it’s present condition! LoL!
Second Are there any other 1/25 scale better looking frames from any other newer kit that would fit underneath the ‘36 fenders and running boards? The stock Revell ‘40 Ford Coupe comes to mind, have to check with one of mine before I go looking or stripping one out of a kit. LoL!
Third, I have some gray tinted microfilm (3 X 5 cards) that I am thinking would look good in the window openings, they range from a light gray to darker gray, what’s the general opinion on how TRAKable a slight window tint would be on a Custom? Maybe just the back light and clear for the windshield? What do you guys think?
