I dig your latest post the most so far.............love the scratch built items; and what you actually modified like the rear cross member. I always liked the trans cross member from the Monogram deuce.....NICE choice! I also don't see anything wrong or off about your mods.

I've been busy making and re-making frame parts as well as assembling the to-be-painted engine parts.
I've also been testing paint.
The gold engine color looks like I wanted it — metallic but not too flashy. It should pass for Fifties aftermarket engine enamel.
The "burple" body/frame color is a mixture of all my partial bottles of non-solid red and blue enamels on top of spray can silver lacquer. I didn't measure them but the labels at the right are in order from the least amount at the top and the most at the bottom. The Arctic Blue overwhelmed the others but in bright light there's a little purplish tinge with some metallic flakes visible. Under normal indoor light it looks almost black.
Many years ago I won a Donn Yost "how to paint" DVD so I'm following his method for painting the major parts on this build to use up my solvent-based paints.

Ed, like that color, the “sheen” is right on for scale. The grill, did you use plastic rod/strip or wire/rod? Whatever you used it looks good, almost better than the stock grill bars.

Maybe I'll save the burple for something else. My original plan was to use a factory medium-dark metallic red. Instead, a solid red that is darker than "resale red" like this might be better. I wouldn't need to be concerned about metallic flakes during polishing. It's approximately equal amounts of the two reds with some Rust added to darken it.

I always felt the spacing was too wide; but it was the first time I had ever attempted something like that.

And I thought that this would be an easy project. Just pop in a different engine, a similar, but better, DCC body and backdate the suspension details. The wide whites came off easily with cheap lacquer thinner, though.

Ahhh yes, building wheels and tires. I know it well and spend a good chunk of time on this with nearly every model. But, what you did is the only way to get something truly acceptable both in appearance and mounting.

Looks like you found a good solution to the wheel/tire problem! Building wheels and tires is something that has frequently stumped me and held back my projects, because if they aren't right, the whole project feels "off". I have a couple projects that are still stalled over the need for tires that I don't have/don't exist so I might have to make them from scratch.

Yes, I actually manage to get to the painting stage of projects sometimes. Here's the Revell parts pack Cadillac engine. I've added a road draft tube made of brass wire and a modified magneto from the Revell Tony Nancy 22 Jr. kit. The block and tube are Testors gold enamel and the heads are Metallizer Aluminum Plate buffing lacquer.

I see someone else uses those "Bulldog" clips too! I use them for lots of stuff, they come in several sizes that work for clamping just about anything.

I use plastic laundry pegs for a lot of stuff too!
That Caddy is looking good! I like the road draft tube, never thought of adding one but I might have to revisit the idea now that I've seen it done.

I've had those carbs/air cleaners sitting in my watched items for awhile. Have you gotten them yet? they look nice in the pics, just wondering what they look like in person. Yes, they look really good. I'm speculating that they were drawn in a 3D app and printed on a high-res 3D printer. There are so many undercuts that I don't think that it was cast in resin.
It includes spark plugs, too, so this will be my first time building a 1/25 engine with separate plugs.
What are those doo-hickeys between the carbs and the air cleaners? I thought that they were spark plugs but upon closer inspection they are not. Fuel filters?

Anybody, Bueller, anybody? They're probably inline fuel filters.
