The attitude (altitude?) of the front is the 2 kit options. I think I'll probably be going with the stock height. The only rear axle assembly I had had already been assembled stock with the driveshaft and I didn't want to risk cutting it up for lowering blocks. So, I sunk the springs into the frame rails to drop the axle to the frame. Thanks, Gary

I guess I've just been lazy about posting progress on anything lately, but I have been making progress on a few models this summer. Painting has as usual been a weather issue with either humidity or too much breeze to allow me to lay on an even coating of paint. Work on this 49 has been slow but steady. The interior is done, and the body just needs final sanding to be also ready for paint. The chassis is also done. As I'm going with the skirts, the trim rings and caps on the rear wheels aren't necessary. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiThanks as always for your continued support. What are you going to do with the center bumper hole? (headlight?)

Nothing, just as you see it.

Cool! The chop is looking good I'm not sure I've ever seen someone run the stock grille without anything in the center "bullet". That's neat! Personally, I'd probably stuff a floating V8 logo in there, like the ones on the 50s Ford trucks.

"Never" before, but ya have now. I'll bet that someone, somewhere, some day did the very same thing I did. At least I think so. This is what I like about customs. They're customs. This all with a smile on my face! Gary

Gary When I inevitably see a historical photo of this particular modificaton, I'll immediately think back to this thread It never fails! *EDIT* I just thought of a tacky but awesome mod...forget the V8 logo, I'd mount a late '50s Canadian Monarch crown emblem in that hole. I don't possess your restraint

During my life I might have seen this done, and secretly buried it deep in my brain. If anybody sees one show it to us please. Thanks, Gary

I only found this picture a few weeks ago and it looks almost like I had been building my model by copying it completely. This picture is a fave now anyway as it just screams to me, CUSTOM! Yeah baby! Hosted on FotkiAnyway, since I'm in a teasing kinda mood here's a teaser shot of the now finished model. It's no. 2 of three I've finished this year. Unfortunately my cleaned up front bumper didn't survive final fitting and broke where one of the bumper guards was. Drat! But now I've cleaned off the top of my bench, (for now that is!)! Sweet! That paint looks fantastic. I was happy to see this '49 re-emerge; I'd forgotten all about it so it was like seeing it for the first time again
