This build is a faux-vivor, inspired by Dave Shuklis famous Red Revver build from the early 60's. I say famous because it was featured in many publications, including magazines and catalogs. Here's the original I was going to try to stick pretty closely to the inspiration, but as usually happens (at least for me) I find things I'd like to change to be more pleasing to me aesthetically. Not to say anything the master Mr. Shuklis did was wrong, or that I can do "better", it's just my spin on his ultra cool design. As part of one of our ongoing Challenges at KKIM, we have the AMT Trophy Series Challenge. I have tried to build a new build for this challenge for every meeting. I missed doing one for this past Spring because we were in the midst of moving. But, with our October meeting coming, I took the long holiday weekend to get started. I've had this old Ron Cash AMT based 32 body knocking around my resin stash for about 20 years. I figured this was the perfect opportunity to use it. The basis for this build is an original issue AMT Double Dragster that I scored specifically for this build. I've got the side by side twin SBC's ready to go, but as per the Red Revver inspiration, it will be all wheel drive. The left engine will be driving a reworked QC axle up front, and the rear will have the same driven by the right engine. This is a lot of fun. Combined with the Diced Up 29 I'm feeling like I'm breaking out of this builders block. A deadline helps too

Crazy! I like the idea of dual engines and slicks at both ends. Not too many builds like that hanging around! Very refreshing

Neat-o! Your comp coupe direction looks better to me than Shuklis' altered style.

Looks like there will be an abundance of Trophy challenge contenders at Kemps! I have some work to do. Great idea.

Love it! Will look as tough as can be with the twin front blown small blocks. I’m way past using those old AMT or AMT based bodies but it lends itself really well to this situation. Probably because these comp coupes shoved over dragster chassis’ are more like caricatures anyway so the wonky proportions don’t matter.

Progress Life got in the way and I didn't make the deadline, but I'm not giving up on it. Made up some front axle mounts, and now it's up on all fours for the first time.

Body! Yes, at long last this is moving again. Got the necessary bodywork done to smooth out the body and fix the low spots on the roof. I also needed to securely mount the body on the frame, so I cleaned up the cowl and added a firewall. Then I added a brace at the back of the roll cage to support the body. Here's a pic with all the supports removed, so it's finally standing on all 4 slicks by itself. Getting near the point of being ready for paint.
