While I wait for more pics of the original Red Rever, I jumped on a 53 Stude, inspired by this as you likely remember, but with more of an eye towards an NHRA legal Gasser of the era: I'm not going with the FI SBC or dropped front axle from the 55 Nomad though. I'm using the raised front end option & the 1st Gen Chrysler Hemi in the kit, with the short Hilborn injectors, cylinder heads & valley cover from the DeSoto Hemi in the 53 Ford pickup kit. Still likely to use the rear mags from the original issue AMT 57 Chevy though, & the circa 1965 AMT Firestone piecrust slicks like the original had, though I have a few other ideas. Here's that combo on the left, with a chrome reversed rim in a Goodyear slick on the right: Firestones again on the left, with the chrome reverse rim, M&H WW piecrust with the 57 Chevy mag on the right: Just like the inspiration, mine will have thinline ww tires on the front. Here's those tires with the chrome reverse in the M&H slick: Either the American mags from the 55 used on the original or a set of Halibrand spokers from one of several AMT kits, (32 Vickie, 56 Ford, Custom & Competition Parts pack), will be used up front. Rear quarters have been sanded smooth & radiused: You can also see in the above pic where I've cut out the inner fenders in preparation for making the tilt front end. I'm not cutting the front end loose now until the teardrop hood from Ed arrived, which it just did this morning, along with a custom 57 Chevy hood: The Stude hood fits like a glove: More to come & yes the 57 Chevy hood is for a Trakable project too! Stay tuned...

Got a bit more done on the Stude tonight, including the most nerve wracking part, cutting the front end loose: I also opened up the molded in vents on the resin hood & removed the "V8" emblem on the front of it: I've got some fine mesh I can use on the opened vents, but I'm diggin' the look of them as is!

Boxed frame rails & the beginnings of a full firewall. Before: After: Still need to sand & add a bit of putty to the rails & firewall, (& measure, cut & add the rest of the firewall pieces!), but, it's startin' to get there!

Got the Stude teardrop hood attached to the fenders last night, & began sanding them clean this afternoon. I used Gorilla Glue with a brush applicator: I deliberately flooded the areas with the super glue, to ensure no movement, this meant I had to do a lotta sanding today, but it was worth it: I still have to sand the underside of the hood: I like the look so far though! More sanding to come, then applying putty followed by even more sanding!
