Very cool period 55! I remember those too. A guy in my area at the time had a '56 Bel Air with a '55 front clip on it and all the popular goodies for the time. It was real sharp IIRC correctly it was a light metallic purple color. He ran a body shop the next town over. I've been to NY National speedway many times, even got a trophy once with my old Firebird. Again excellent build and thanks for the memories!

Very cool Gary! I wasn't expecting to see it decaled up! Where did the door lettering decals originate from?

Ed, the decals came from SLIXX Gasser Mini sheet 13, and I bought them from ModelRoundup.

Very Nice, I recognize a TON of WORK there. The AMT '55 2DR Post is a nice kit, just needs some rubbing here and there to make it nicer and you've found all them spots! I do like your backstory on the reason for the different color of the front clip I remember seeing cars just like this, especially guys who were running on a more limited budget.

It. Just. Looks. So. Right. Superb build! My sentiments exactly. The stance is dead-on!

We ran at NY NAT, Suffolk Dragway and the Islip 1/8 with a D/G 55 Chevy called the Shell Shocker. It is in a few good bits of film on a BEE ON VIDEO "Drag Racing on L.I. I still have the car and run Nostalgia Gas. Also ran the Marinos Ice sponsored funnycar there. Pops last gasser ran one of NY Nats last races , a Jag xle running a blown 440 in B/G there. Probably know each other.
That is a great rendition of what we ran. Thanks for posting it! Paul

Cool. Small world. I never went to the Islip drags but spent many a Saturday night there, loved those old coupe and coach modifieds. The figure 8 races were a blast too. Yeah I was born and raised on the Island, live in Florida now.

I don't know much about gassers, but this has a very authentic look and a killer stance. Beautiful job on the radiused wheel openings!

Very good looking '55 Gasser. As others said earlier, it definitely has the right look. Nicely done model overall as always from your bench. '55 Chevy 2D Sedan is one of my favorite body styles so glad to see one of them built.
