These are what I grew up with. A fresh up dated gasser with new glass fenders, hood and doors. Plexi window replacements, and a new "Tunnel Ram" on a 427. Built it as it would have been on it's shake down run near 1967 or 8. Tow it to the track, bolt on slicks and go!! Paul

Nice. You've captured the look. I think that the letter-box snorkel scoop would have been brand new then but I don't know for sure. Nice job.

Badass! I like all the different colors of primer for the fiberglass parts, and those red plexi windows.

Nice, Looks like I remember them, up here in the Pacific Northwest, (Washington) just about everybody who ran any kind of door-slammer flat-towed to the races. A few of my more gray(er) wiskered buddies have a story or two to tell about tow bar mishaps, I think just about everytime more than two of them are together the subject comes up! I'm old enough that I flat towed the first car that I took to the drags as well, although; I never experienced a car taking off on me! Within a couple of years or so trailers were starting to show up even for door-slammers and sadly Gassers were going away in favor (?) of bracket cars. Always loved the heads up (what's a dial in) racing better than the brake races, as in oops I'm going faster than my dial in, jamb on the brakes quick... When those formulas were introduced, was when I kind of thought things were getting a little weird, I liked it where either you won or lost on a hole-shot or just faster car that beat the pants off everyone and their brother in your class; lots less arguments.
The other thing I see here comes from someone who's been around it, the tinted windows are to the rear of the driver, that's a common one to be missed. Though I would have to go back and re-read the Gas Class Rules regarding tinted windows being legal to the front of the driver to say so for sure.
What's the origin of that '57 kit, is it the MPC or the Revell kit? I have the MPC frame in my hands and yours looks more like the frame that's under my AMT '55 2DR Post than this '57 frame. (Didn't get anything above except '57 frame and engine screaming eVilBay Auction.) So I'm saying that you must have started with a Revell Black Widow '57? Right?... LoL! I know keep'em guessing!
Actually got some bench time in on both my '55 2DR Post, D/G and some work on the '57 Mercury Pick Up, that will be a push truck for a Jr. Fueler which I finally got about 90% of the parts to go ahead and start when there is a space in the build lineup. So seeing someone else finishing and posting something cool is energizing to say the least! Thanks!

All I can say is, "Wanna race?" "Heads up, of course." My 55 against your 57. Gary

So seeing someone else finishing and posting something cool is energizing to say the least! Thanks! I flat towed my 55 on Long Island NY, to Attco in N.J, Old Diminion in Va and New England Dragway . Only once I had an issue. I was amazed running 50 mph to see someones tire pass me on the right. . . just before the chevy dropped a bit. My tire and wheel. Full tint was allowed in the UDRA and IHRA strips I ran at as long as it was not in a record or "money" run. NHRA was quarter glass and rear glass with more than 25% tint according to the old style light meter.
The kit is a combination of the original Revell 1957 Chevy kit chassis and the new Revell Black Widow kit body and interior. I do have a chopped 55 gasser I just finished but with L60's it may be too new for here. FYI I still have my 55 and it ran gas from 1962, than C/MP in the 70's, 80's and 90's. In the late 90's to 2009 it was classless. Now I run Nostalgia Gas in the East Coast Gasser and Southern Gasser groups and until I replaced all the glass a few years ago with Lexan ran yellow tin on all but the front and rear shields that my dad put installed in 1962 when he ran D/G. I've personally raced it for 52 years.
Forget who asked about the scoop, but the snorkel scoop first appeared in early 1967.

Like that 57 a lot, just has "The Look" of the area at that time. I like how you remembered the tow tabs, not many at "street level" there had a trailer back then LOL. Nice detail.
