This was being build along with my 32 coupe. It is based on the one that Chris "the Greek" Karamesine built in the late 1950s. The basic kit is the AMT Double Dragster. Much of the steering , drives and hand pressure pumps are made from brass some of the tin work is .010 Aluminum flashing. Like the Greeks it is based on a 97 inch wheel base. He is building a clone of his which gave me alot of insight on doing it. Paul

Very cool! These twin-motored dragsters became popular after NHRA's fuel ban, which allowed gas only for fuel. The reasoning was that more cubic inches would make up for what nitromethane had previously provided. Twin-engine dragsters remained popular in the top gas class long after the fuel ban was lifted.

I like it...but am a bit confused (which is very normal with me!). I see magnetos on the engines with a black wire coming out...running along the valve covers...but no spark plugs or wires going onto spark plugs? Is this something new? or old as the case might be? Never saw anything like this before. I am NOT being picky! Merely curious...

The 50's Hemis ran tin covers over the plug wires and plugs to neaten it up and stop debris from accumulating in the plug tubes. Generally over the years the got tossed. Here is a photo that shows how and what the covers do. Paul

Nice build! It seems that there is no limit to how many versions you can make out of AMTĀ“s Double Dragster Kit. Excellent detailing on the steering linkage.
