Dennis--I dunno, maybe something like this? I definitely like the idea of adding some round rod to make the taillights appear recessed a tad more deeply.

Stance and those chrome reverse wheels gotta love it! You just can’t beat Chrome Reverse Wheels for pure simplicity and sophisticated styling, pair that with a sweet rakish stance, beautiful!

Dennis, really like this, I think the rear looks pretty good, I also think it needs something, just not sure what. What have you got planned for side trim if any? That might make a difference. Edit; Here is a link to the custom "Hint of Mint" in case you have not seen it, has a similar rear end treatment. www.customcarchronicle.com/custom-cars/57-chevy-hint-of-mint/

Kind of a shame it got attacked by 90’s styling but on the other hand at least they saved it. Between a few folks suggestions here I think I have a plan for refining the rear. I don’t plan to do any side trim at the moment. If you look close I did leave the rocker trim thinking between that and all the chrome around the windows it should have enough trim. Right now I’m a bit stumped on a grill treatment. Part of the problem is I just don’t have the resources for these 50’s cars.

Hmm, how about stacked styrene sheet slabs? As if they made a "bar grille" but out of sheets of thick aluminum. Or a custom tube grille made out of wire or styrene? If you have ripple side-pipes in your stash (ala kart?? center of '53 Ford PU custom grille?) maybe you could make floating ripple bars with some clear rod at the ends for indicator lights.

Looking forward to seeing this refined design in primer to tie it all together.

Early in the project I didn't like the way the rear area around the taillights was going. Now, your improvements really look good to me. That little brow at the top is what makes it "work" -- and the half-round perimeter makes it look finished.

I like that grille bar! Sometimes simple is best Tail end is looking much more refined, too....and good call on rounding the headlight bezels a bit.

I think to blend the rear and front together, perhaps mimic the hood bulges on the truck lid ending in a frenched license plate mount? With my eye. it cries for a full set of scallops to accent your body lines. Paul

Looking good! The grille bar works well, the bullets on each end of it are nice, & the rounded headlight pods is a nice touch.
Rear end treatment is also excellent, & those tips are great! I'm glad you knew what I was getting at with the half round, & if I may offer one more slight recommendation; I'd fill in the little area between the tips & the tail lights with styrene, making just that part flush with the half round.
That way the tail lights are still just sunk in perfectly like they are now, the tips are still out there just right, but there's no gap in that section. And everything will be tied together nicely.
Either way it's looking even better than before. And it was already looking damned good!

I wasn't sure about the back end until you added the half-round surrounds; now I'm fully on board. This is looking great.

Dennis, you can build customs! I love the new grille bar with the kit grille surround. The rear fender tip extension looks tacked on to me. If there was a radius from the rearmost tip down to the taillight opening, that would unify the design from the front to the rear. My 2. Gary

Like that grill and where the taillights are headed. That grill beats the pants off of the well worn ‘53 Chevrolet Grill Teeth, yours looks custom, modern, streamlined, well thought out like it was planned that way from the start, which it pretty much what’s a good customizer is shooting for in the first place.
