(grin)..so why DO that then Dennis? I hope you didn't take my comment wrong about the roll bar..it was merely an observation of mine. and my preference. I guess that's why we don't all build the same models....huh? I DO love your work my friend! I took no offense. I was just explaining why I put a roll bar in it. It’s also going to have an accessory gauge panel and dash top tachometer. I guess in a way it’s a 60’s version of “pro touring”.

Roll Bar, I think it goes great! (Chromed, Upholstered is even better.) Like Rod & Custom, Street & Strip, Show & Go... There was an early sixties timeframe where there was a trend for all things Drag Strip to be included into the show cars and show into the full time drag cars. I'm thinking right around '62 - '64, the big wave of the Surf Scene, Roth Scene(s).
Rear Bumper Revisited - To keep the rear bumper from ending up too plasticy, (like a bumper cover) and give it a "Finished Look". My thought was to incorporate a recessed strip centered vertically and horizontally on the bumper itself. Say 1 - 2 scale inches wide, either bullnosed along the edge, 1/2 - 1 scale inch radius or 1 - 2 scale inch half round with radiused ends. The Mini-Dagmar theme from the front grill bar might be carried through to the rear. Either as another light or as a "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper" as one of my uncle's friends used to call the black rubber tips on '57 bumpers.

I just went back through the entire thread again and I think all the changes in your more recent post (except the roll bar) are big improvements. Nothing against the roll bar, it just doesn't add to the look for me. I would leave the front and back alone and get the primer on to see what needs putting and sanding. Great work.

Final cleanup this weekend and primer next week. I appreciate peoples additional suggestions but I’m done and happy with where it’s at.

Engine compartment looks good especially with the W engine there. One thing we did when a BBC or W engine was dropped it, was put the radiator in the factory 6 cylinder position on the outside of the radiator support. Gave us room for a fan. Your looks fine though. Paul

Paul Right. I don’t know much about ‘57 Chevies but I was aware of the I6 radiator position. Luckily I did get a fan to fit as-is and if it wasn’t for the radiator core being molded to the core support I would have moved it to the front but I really don’t feel like trying to carve it out of there.

I don't blame you. It's a project that at least for me never comes out exactly right. Paul

I had no idea the radiator was swapped to the front of the support on factory 1:1 Chevy inline 6 cars! Funny, because that's exactly how I managed to fit a 'vette 6cyl into the Revell '55 I started building a few years back.
