It's late 1962 and our customizer has been working his magic on a 1961 Pontiac Ventura. Despite improving the front and rear styling, it still kinda looked like a Chevy. But, as luck would have it, he came across a totaled nearly new 1963 Buick Riviera. That roof! Replacing the "bubbletop" roof with the Riv's gave the Green 'Gator what it needed to look both sporty and sophisticated.

Gator, wasn’t that the name Burt Reynolds used in White Lightning, ol, Burt would love cruising around in this Poncho. Bravo 👍

I agree with the others, this turned out really cool! Excellent job with the body modifications, it definitely looks like something that could have been done in the '60s. As much as I like the roofline of the stock roof on these cars, I think the roof swap was a genious idea, the Riviera roof fits perfectly to the overall look of this thing. Excellent color choice and a beautiful paint job finishes it off. Very nicely done.

I like it, definitely unique. Great creativity.I would like to see the rea a bit lower. It is a fantastic custom and beyond my capabilities. Thanks! You're right about the rake. The mock-ups in my build thread showed how I intended it to be. When I replaced the kit's roof with the Riv roof the interior shifted a little. I didn't realize that it changed how the rear axle holder fit until I was doing final assembly and only had an hour or so of sun left for photos. I knew that I wanted a California rake and figured it would be OK. It wasn't. Thanks for noticing!
With a single cut to the snap-in rear axle locator, this is how it's supposed to look. It still has the California rake but not cartoony as before.
