I started this one last summer. Reps & Mins chopped cab, channeled, sectioned, shortened, lowered... The TRaK Kommunity Build for '50s pickups on 2/14/08 made me pick it back up. I was never sold on the stock grille, especially in a truck where this much kustom work had been done. The other night I was fitting the dual quad/ 3-bar grille from a '53 kit and figured I'd just add the whole front end on and mold it all in. Here's early progress after last night's work. From this: To this! I took about 3mm off the bottom of the '53 valance to lighten up the front. I still need to add some material to the leading edge of the wheel openings. Out back, I'm planning on molding in a '56 Ford rear pan to tie the fenders & bed all together. Thanks for lQQking. A couple of more pics here: fivets.fotki.com/my_projects/1950_ford_pickup/

Looks like you have a lot of body work in your future! Nice front end mod, it fits the truck well! This reminds me I need to build a '50 shop truck...

I think I liked it before better. That treatment makes the front end look REALLY massive. I'm sure I will like it more when it's blended together some.

Matt! Wow! That is a big change! I haven't seen it done before, but I ain't sayin' I don't like it. I always thought that the front-end was big to begin with, now (on this truck) it's just BIGGER! hee hee! I like the direction your headed with this. Looks like you'll probably have this wrapped up by halloween!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I admit I'm on the fence about the styling too. Thing is, I already have a a '50 Ford pickup on the shelf and wanted something different this time around. I'm hoping once the bodywork is smoothed in and the frame rails are bobbed up front, things will come together. If not...I always have another '50 nose in the parts box. ;D

Heres an idea try pinching the fenders in to follow the head lights like the Barris WildKat was done it would lighten the front up some.
