1) That Vette looks AWESOME!
2) I personally think that the current look makes it borderline TRaK'able: All of the parts appear to be have been available pre-'69, but I just think that the stance and Big 'n littles gives it a late sixties/early seventies street machine look - not quite a rod, nor a custom...
However, given it's current look, I think it would be a shame to alter it's appearance just to make it completely TRaK'able.
Bob; Those Cragars appear to be from the MRC aftermarket set - some of the nicest around!

Thanks for the comments. I think its borderline too, so I wanted your opinions. The wheels are MRC, with rear tires from Revell's 40, and front tires from an ancient Revell parts pack. I think the front tires look a bit too much like rubber bands. I'm not up to making it a gasser since its the AMT snap kit and that would be a whole lot of work.

Be careful with those old Revell Parts Pack tires - they're known to have a ferocious appetite for styrene: The compound-softeners used in the vinyl will gradually chemically "melt" the wheels (as well as any other styrene they get in contact with, for that matter)

The problem I was told is the MRC wheels and tires are 1/24 so on a 1/25 scale kit they would end up being around 18 inches.

I think it's pretty cool, but I also think the 8ball decal takes away from it. I like the paint scheme and the wheels I like...but maybe not on this build? I dunno...just my opinion.

I didn't show this when I finished it earlier this year because I thought it was overall a bit too modern. I was thinking, however, of including it among my 2010 builds for my year-end summary. Would that be too offensive (or undisciplined)?

Doesn't look too modern for me........you do have all period parts on it.....even the dirt track slicks are period! They were running smooth hood sides in the '50's too.....not that your's are complete smoothed. Now, if you had some crazy ZZ top style scooped side panels I'd probably say 'nay'; but looks fine to me.

I feel it's too modern. The tread on the tire doesn't stick out to me as something that would have been done. IMHO the overall appearance is 90's.

Ahhhhh.......I missed the front tires! Yeah, I agree with you there Bob. The dirt track tires were very period on the back though.........even got photos to back that up! LOL! Now, if Bernard changed out those fugly front tires (won't use them on anything myself); then maybe it'd 'cut the mustard' here?

Well actually it was the rear tires more than the fronts I was referring to. Mainly....because of the width. I would say for the "jalopy" TRaKability of it, it's too new. Sorry should have been more clear. and since you brought it up...yes the fronts too lol

I just wanted to be clear that I am not arguing with you here........after all, what you say goes!LOL! If you don't think it should be posted then that's fine. I just thought I should point out that the wider dirt track tires (like Bernard has on his roadster) were used on the street (hot rods) in the late sixties....which his build leans towards with the Halibrand wheels and all. Again, not arguing with you or nothing! LOL! Funny thing is that I have a very similar build planned out for one of my '32 Ford roadsters down the line.......only with Americans wrapped in Firestone dirt track tires, smaller/narrower front tires, and older style hair pins up front.........painted red with a black gut; and stock hood/hood sides......it's a replica build in fact of a traditional Deuce that was featured in Rodder's Journal.
