Here's one of my '62 Fords. This is how I received this one from the auction site. An interesting mix of custom parts. I debated for a long time to either restore it like this or build it into something else. It was so rough under that black enamel and wood filler putty that I chose the latter. It's now about half way into it's transformation to a 60's style mild custom rod
Merc, I'm pretty sure this one's actually by Aurora, 1/32 scale. I've never seen it in any Monogram catalog, and Aurora had a bunch of 32nd scale hot rods. The little 409 in this one's pretty cool![/quote]
You could be right. It's been so long I can't remember. I do know it was $0.49 new for the kit.
This old guy, Ben Takemoto, called me one day and asked if I'd like a few boxes of his old built-ups, before he tosses them... I said "sure, what the heck, maybe a few parts I can use..." What a goldmine! All of his stuff had been built prior to 1964 and he was quite a good builder. These models look fantastic, even by todays standards!
Go to this album to see all the stuff he gave me. I sold most of the stock/custom builds, but kept the drag and hot rod models.
OK Merc, research in Tom Graham's Guide to Aurora Model Kits reveals that this is kit no. 508 '29 Ford Pickup "Wolf Wagon," offered from '62 to '70. Kit featured standard tires or slicks for the rear and moon or "embossed" hubcaps. It was apparently modeled after Ken Kay's show rod in Hot Rod mag, July '61.
Here's a pair of very cool old builds that I bought at a toy show a few years back..... The story I got was that the original builder (who's name has been unfortunately lost to history) did these while he was a Navy dentist back in the mid 60s...
Gonna do a slight resto (wheels, tires and reglue the trim pieces that have fall off) on the '55, but that's it... Otherwise I'm not touching a thing on them!
Hey, gang... It's me, Marty Neyrinck... I'd just ordered up beer and sat down at the bar, when some guy comes in and says, "Who owns this car, with the peace sign, the mag wheels and the four on the floor?"
spex84: Glad to ear it, Bob! I'm doin' OK too. Just not spending much time at the bench these days.

Dennis: Man, these last couple of weeks are the deadest I've ever seen this place. Sad...

krassandbernie: I'm surprised that only one or two members even noticed the new posts I made in the 'resin' section......and now crickets!

krassandbernie: You'd be getting more done than I have in the past year or two if you do build on the kitchen table! LOL!

EchoBravoSierra: I'm struggling to settle on something to build too. My "working on a model" time has been pulling a box out, digging in it, putting it back up, wash, rinse, repeat.
