This is AMT 49 Merc that I modified, & cast in resin. The body has been pie sectioned 2.5 scale inches in rear & side character line straightened. The front wheel openings were raised about 2 scale inches. The top was chopped 2 scale inches in the front & 4 scale inches in the rear, & converted to a hardtop. The front gravel shield has been molded into the body, & the hood has rounded corners as well as a new center peak. The headlights are from a ‘50’s era Jaguar, & the molded in bezels are from a ’57 Ford. The grille is from a ’56 Chrysler. The front bumper has been smoothed & peaked by Rik Hoving, & cast in resin by me. Scratchbuilt ribbed rearview mirror. Flush fitting fender skirts were modified kit pieces. The rear gravel shield is molded in, & the rear bumper has been smoothed. The taillights were scratch built from pieces of a plastic holiday knife. The tires are from Modelhaus, & the hubcaps are modified versions of Model Car Garage Sombreros with added center bullets. The paint is House Of Kolor Kandy Tangerine Basecoat on top of red. All chrome is Alclad except for the window trim & side trim. Interior: The ’50 Mercury dash is from Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland. The steering wheel is a ’53 Ford with an added bullet on the horn. The seats & door panels have all been modified with added tuck & roll inner panels. Here's what it looked like during the bodywork. In primer. This one no longer sits on my shelf, but it sits across the ocean on Rik Hoving's shelf. Steve

Thanks, man! I cast this one myself a few years ago, & was able to get quite a few copies out before the mold got too bad. All have been sold though. Steve

This is absolutely amazing.
I love how the fenderskirts flush into the bodylines, instead of sitting on the body lines ! This is a big inspiration to me. Although a finish this high aint gonna happen in my way.

Steve, i noticed your head liners always appear realistic. what do you do to them? My headliners are just paint applied with a brush, sanding between some of the coats to keep the brush strokes down. But, before all that, I try to get the inside of the roof as smooth as possible, using filler & sanding. Steve
