Excellent!Headlights will be good when blended in and the changes to the truck lid are good, particularly how the stock '40 body line on the very bottom blend in with the opening. Much nicer than the original gold body. Paul

I can see it coming together. Fabulous job on the headlight surrounds. I sure wish there were more pictures of the survivor, especially with the hood on the car. Your hood seems to go beyond the headlights while I think the survivor stops at or before them. Just an observation. The new truck line looks much better and will allow you to mold in the rear pan and taillights. Could the survivor had the taillights set into the body a bit? His taillights are flush with the back end while yours protrude noticeably. As to the rear window, it needs something. There is no rubber trim on the front and rear windows on the survivor. If you don't want to go with the rectangular rear window then how about you remove the rubber trim portion? It would make the rear window larger and sleeker. If you don't like it you could then do the rectangular rear window. With regards to the channel, I think you have it on the chassis but no interior is in place. Once you place the interior you can see how it sits. I'm pretty sure you sectioned the interior already so hopefully it drops right into place. Are you trying to get it lower? If so modifying the front and rear axle might be the easier road. My 2 cents.

On the rear window, I personally like the split windows but I would thin the center divider down about half it's width. It would keep the over all shape and thinning the split would bring it more inline with the windshield. Paul

Moving right along, though not as fast as I'd like. The majority of the progress has been to the front end. There's no way I can replicate exactly as the OG builder did it and also a lot more pictures would have helped. I was a toolmaker in my previous life so a dimensioned print would have really been of tremendous help! The work I'm doing here requires give and take. The give part is where I add more material than I need, then take off what I don't. This usually happens several times before I feel satisfied. That said, there's still a lot more bodywork to do. Before I started adding the new grille surround, I drew a rough outline of a shape that looked good to me, then dug out the Dremel and hogged out the opening. Then came the adding to build out the new grille shell. I thought it would be handy if I reposted one of the previous pictures to compare with the current. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiI think I might have some free time tomorrow. What to do, what to do. Gary

Looks really good Gary. I think you trimmed the headlight surrounds back on the bottom and possibly the top. Looking at the bottom rear part of the front fender and the forward edge of the rear fender, I think they need to tuck under to go with the wrap around of the front end. I've been waiting to see what you would do with the running boards and they look way better. Keep it going, you're doing great.

I absolutely love seeing radical customs like this being built. You're doing awesome work Gary!

Looking fantastic! The recent bodywork is really pulling everything together. I dig the toothy Buick-style grille too.
