Here's one that I built for a club "grab bag" challenge about 10 or 12 years ago.... The idea behind the challenge was that you picked a kit which had been donated by someone else in the club and then you had three months to build it any way that you liked... The catch was, that since the kits were all wrapped in brown paper, you had no way of knowing what kind of car you were going to get. I lucked out and missed all the late model Camaros and Firebirds and Nascar kits and grabbed myself a copy of AMT's trusty old '57 ford kit! ;D Back then I had only recently gotten back into my first love in model car building, vintage drag cars, so I knew right away what I was gonna do with the old Ford.... I was gonna build me a gasser! The straight axle from the drag version of AMT's '55 Nomad kit was used and after shaving the body of side trim the rear wheel wells were opened up for a pair of slicks... If you look closely you'll notice that I turned the car into a sedan too with the addition of window frames and door posts. Finish was a semi gloss black and the side and rear widows were all cut from blue tinted acetate. Under the hood I used the stock 312 Y-block but with the fuel injection and headers from an earlier version of the old '57 kit. Other than wiring detail the reest of the engine was built pretty much box stock. There is a sad end to this story.... Back around late 1999 or early 2000 the shelf that this and several other of my models were on collapsed damaging all of the models to some degree but this one was totally destroyed.... The above photo is the only one that I have of the car.

So you gonna do a "rememberance" or "reconstrcution" build of that one? I like the pic, but I wanna see MORE!

(Sorry 'bout that.... LOL) For what?! It's a lot better than just saying,"here's my model...." and post pics. Helps sometimes to know a little "history" on a build, to kind of see what the builder was thinking. I enjoy reading a backstory or a setup very much. Don't stop, and DON'T apologize.
