Couple og guys at the Friday night cruise-in at the mall started racing valve covers. I asked my friend if he would like me to flame his cover for him. This is it before I striped it in green. I figured I'd get in on it seeins as how I had an old set of valve covers. That's mine behind Johns in the photo above as I started the painting. I'm using some old RC wheels. Here's the finish pics of mine: I used Alclad for the continuation of the teeth into a grille. The rear end:

They race those on the first Fri of the month at the Mall cruise-in. Mine will make it's debut on June 13 ( FRIDAY). The one I flamed has $65 worth of wheels and bearings. Ain't expecting to unseat him with my homemade crap. But I plan to LOOK GOOD !!!

Kool stuff, Geez... wish I'd started airbrushing when I was younger... too lazy to learn now. I'll just stay with my striping.

We go off one at a time from a 2 foot high ramp. Whoever can coast the farthest is the winner. Surface is the mall asphalt parking lot.....not too smooth. I recently changed my tires to slightly used rollerblade ones and painted white walls on them. Still the slowest.

Clay, you need to do like the rest of us as we age, ADD some weight!!!!!!!!!!! Yep! Add weight about 2 inches forward of center. Doesn't have to be much, maybe 1/2 ounce to an ounce. Keep it low. Once the cover clears the starting block, kinetic energy gets it over the hump, and the wheels take care of the rolling resistance. GRAPHITE powder on the axles, and make the wheels a little skinnier to decrease rolling resistance. (Pinecar technology, but same principles)

Thanks, Tom. I'll try a couple of those tips. I think I have the bulk of my weight back of the centerline. Clay
