Steve H. - our '32s must share some DNA, cuz I just couldn't bring myself to do the required wet-sanding last night. So I pulled this '30 Woodie off the shelf that I started last spring. It has nice shiny yellow plastic for the sheetmetal and brown styrene for the wood panels so I figured I'd just polish the plastic and add some wood panel paint in the recesses and just build it. Since everything in the box was painted already (why did I shelve this??) I spent two hours last night assembling the chassis and interior. Man, was that fun! Just like when we were 10 and could open a box and start gluing with abandon. This is just a mock-up I did to test my new photo booth setup, but you get the idea. Wheels will be a nod to Monogram's Blue Beetle - American mag rears & chrome reverse fronts in medium whitewalls. Go buy the new repop of this kit - it's a classic!

Matt, I can't agree more about this kit. The one I built 2yrs ago was a blast to do, so I bought 2 more kits and 1 of the new ones. I gave mine a slight chop though.. ;D Might even do one as a gasser.

A woody Gasser!!! Could you imagine... so much power and torque that on the launch the chassis twists and all the rear wood splinters and explodes!!! Matt, The yellow and wood look good together. I got one of these kits and can't decide on a color. How did you land one molded in that many colors?

The guy goes thru the lights at the end with just a cowl and winder and the track is littered with kindling. Good stuff. This is the old "Early Iron" issue from, I don't know, the late-80s maybe? The box art is a tan & maroon buildup and it's got the "Genuine Early Iron" graphic on the box. Mike - I think seeing yours a few years back on the Model Cars website with the as-molded wood panels got me to thinking about using them out-of-box. I like your chopped version!
