I like the purple and gold together idea. On the fenders, I'd roll with it, and extend the trunk out the there as well, and while yer at it, put fadeaways on the car! Throw 'em a loop and flip the rear window over (upside down!!!). Pancake the hood, and put in a T&R, then call it done.

Tuck and Roll interior = T&R. Pancaking is pretty simple, but can be hard to 'splain. For this particular model, your hood is pretty big, with a LOT of side material to go along with the top of the hood. To pancake it, take the sides off and make then part of the body, leaving the hood free. Look at a '36 Ford hood for reference. There are many different variations on this theme, from rounding the corners of the hood that is left to doing a "plexiglass" insert. Here is an example of a model that has the hood pancaked. In this example (a 41 woody), I just cut the top of the hood free and made the hood sides part of the body. That is MY take on a pancake. The "pancaking" idea is to make the hood thinner. Make sense?

Maybe extending the decklid into a boattail would suit their design...

If you do go the boat tail route, here are a couple inspiration/reference pictures of my dad's car. It looks like it will turn out to be a really cool ride. I don't know if I would pancake the hood, but if I did anything, I would think about maybe pie cutting it, so that the hood slopes to the front. Then again it may look just as good being level or with the tail dragger look.
