That pearlescent paint looks interesting, what make is it? It is made by Daler Rowney. It is ready to spray from the bottle and needs no thinning at all! It is available from art supply stores and they have a huge range of colours both Pearl and solid colours.

Thanks for the info mate.
I have a few of those Daler Rowney pearls knocking about, damn near ruined a '59 Chevy years ago by brush painting the pearl white one - have to try it with the air brush now the warm weather's here... oh wait, it's raining again.

Adam I'm loving these paint experiments you're doing - especially as you being UK based means it's all using stuff available to me too. Never would have occured to me to use window polish... does the airbrush need to be set to a fairly high pressure for that? Adam & Mike; Since you live in the UK, I can HIGHLY recommend the paints from your "native" web-store www.hiroboy.com - His "Zero-Paints" line of products are of superb quality, and ready for airbrush use.

I've been thinking about trying his candy paint. What are you using for a clear coat? I'm wary of sparying the 2 pack clear at home...

Hey Adam - that sure is some interesting stuff you are doing with the paint. How do these acrylics hold up to handling? Do you use a clear coat to protect them from wear?

I've been thinking about trying his candy paint. What are you using for a clear coat? I'm wary of sparying the 2 pack clear at home... I've only tried the 2K (even though it's toxic as hell) and it's just second to nothing I've ever tried - It's so incredibly easy to work with/spray, goes on mirror-smooth (I used slightly more thinner than suggested in the instructions) and best of all, it's safe to use over enamel/decals (I used it on my '53 Kaiser Manhattan, which was painted w. regular ModelMaster and Humbrol paints). By all means try the candy paints! - This paintjob (including wetsanding between each layer) was done in a single afternoon:

That looks great! You've convinced me! I have a respirator for organics, so I'll give the 2K a go, I was just put off a bit by what I'd read.

That's definately a different and interesting color. Will it remain flat or do you plan to cover it in a gloss clear?
