Jon, that's a very nice looking AV8.
Bernard, I don't think I even considered leaving that piece that goes on the frame there. The fenders had been cut away from the floor and separated from the kit long before I saw the 1:1 inspiration. There will be a gap between the bottom edge of the hood sides and the frame because of the lack of that material.
Not much work done on mine... Got more paint on the body, which needs to be polished some. I'm sure I'll burn through it somewhere, so I'm not looking forward to that. Got the throttle linkage on the carbs, and the valve covers and distributor/wiring on. I'm on the verge of rubbing the paint off of parts of the engine from handling, so I need to be careful. One of these days I'll get around to messing with the brake rods.
I'm supposed to close on a house at the end of the week or beginning of next, and will be moving next week, so I don't know how much progress will be made in the immediate future, but once I'm moved in, I'll have my whole hobby room set up and all my kits at home, which allows me to dig and source parts from kits that are currently in storage, so I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

Hey Bernard and ABS The rears are generic narrow slicks of an unknown source that I grooved with a jeweler file and an X-acto saw blade. Your gow job hits the mark, the subtle weathering sets it off. Right off of the Dry lakes.......... And ABS your build is looking just right.

... I also hate when I start a thread and then box the project, leaving the thread out there open ended. ... Happens every time. After digging through my closet over the past few years and looking at this one every couple of months before putting it back, I dug this back out and have spent a couple of nights messing with it again. I built a new header because I wasn't happy with how the first one ran into the inside of the right frame rail, or how low it hung. This one probably wouldn't flow as good in real life, but it fits better. I bought some music wire the other day, and still plan to (try to) make the rod system for the mechanical brakes.

You don't see too many of these Pre-War Hot Rods built, so I'm interested in seeing how this comes together. The start is looking very good already, nice work with the engine and especially that header is looking very good in there. Keep it coming.
