That's looking better. By the time big block Chevys were catching on, most of the gassers were lower than in previous years.

Another mockup; this time almost everything is in place. I just need to finish a few interior bits and make a wheelie bar, after that it should be paint time! (That's the famous Noah's Arc Welding coupe in the background, lol) That hood scoop needs to be back further, or not there at all. I haven't decided it's fate yet...

Thanks guys! I've just been staring at it for the last couple days trying to decide if it needs anything else before I break it down for paint. I thought about making a wheelie bar similar to the one on Ohio George's Willys or Mustang, but now i'm not so sure. Maybe just a modified push bar from the SW&C Willys; something clean and simple. The car probably doesn't need one, but I just think it would be a neat feature. I have some small model airplane wheels with machined aluminum hubs that would be the perfect size.

I researched late '60's period wheelie bars, and didn't find a whole lot. From what I did find, they were mostly weird looking, homebuilt contraptions. I think I got it right: The wheels sit about 3 scale inches off the ground. It still needs end caps for the tube, and diagonal braces from the wheelie wheels to the frame.

That looks sharp! Personally, I like seeing a stock bumper on the back of these old gassers at times; and most of the cars that weren't blown didn't need or use a chute either. On another note, next time just drop me an e-mail.........I've got hundreds, if not thousands of photos on my computer of old gassers, drag cars, and hot rods........and I could possibly save you hours of not finding what you are looking for on the webernet! LOL!

It's been over a year since I last worked on this! Hahahahahaha! I've been away from all of the forums for the last year or so, just got a bit bored with models. But, I'm back at it again!

I'm glad you're back at it, this Chevy is looking very good so far. I like the stance a lot and those wheelie bars turned out great. Just like I'd imagine they had back in the day. I can't wait to see some new updates.

So, the first show of the season is fast approaching and I have nothing done yet. I've been torturing myself since September to make something traditional looking with the new '29 kit and it's not working for me. I also have a '32 5-window project that I can't get exited about either. So, what to do? I looked in my rapidly growing WIP stash and this called out to me more than the others. Keep watching, because it's coming back! Most of the modifications are done, just a few little tweaks here and there before paint. The biggest change will be Hilborn injection instead of tri-power. I'm trying to find that damn wheelie bar right now; somehow it got out of the box and disappeared...

Well, I hope you find it. The 37 Chevy is a favorite of mine and especially Ed's resin body.

Hey Ed. You have any more of these great chopped 37 Chevs? I'd like one or two.
