Thanks, guys, I really appreciate it! I'll try to keep it going. Eric, every year comes around & I think I'm going to go to a local show, but it never seems to happen for oddball reasons. Maybe it'll happen this time. Steve, I hope to see you there!

I am using the Caddy engine from the Revell '49 Merc, but didn't care for the carbs too much. The ones from the Caddy engine in the AMT '49 Ford kit are a bit better, but still needed a little help to look like Rochesters. I took one of those from the AMT kit & started adding bits of plastic here & there while looking at photos of a 1:1. Then, I made resin copies of that one. Here they are on the manifold. A comparison: AMT on the left & Revell on the right. In the engine bay.

Your sense of proportions and attention to detail never ceases to amaze me. This one's a work of art even in this stage!

Really nice work on the carburetors. The Revell Caddy carbs are awful. Sad, considering how nice the rest of the engine is.
Did it take much work to fit the Revell engine with its FAT auto trans?

Thanks again! Yeah, Dennis, I sanded a bunch off the top of the transmission where no one will see. At first, I thought about cutting out & replacing the interior floor, but that would have been much more work. I still did have to cut a couple of holes on each side of the tunnel for clearance.

Wow! That's very fine work with the carburetors, they definitely look much better than the one you started with. Once those carbs are painted and detailed I'm sure they'll look very realistic. Great work as always.

Hi Steve, Great looking custom, really like the addition of the rear 52 - 54 style fender bulges as they change the profile just right and blend with the tail lights I was just wondering why you used the Revell Cadillac engine instead of the AMT supplied one, is it just for the extra detail? Have you got as far as colour choice, interior design yet? regards Marty

Hi Steve, ....I was just wondering why you used the Revell Cadillac engine instead of the AMT supplied one, is it just for the extra detail? Have you got as far as colour choice, interior design yet? regards Marty Thanks, Marty. Yes, the engine detail was a bit better on the Revell. Believe me, it would have been an easier fit with the AMT engine. The color I'm thinking about is something like this. Not sure of the interior color yet. Attachment Deleted

Excellent work as usual Steve! I'm sure it'll be a stunner when you get it finished. I've had a custom '49 in mind for quite a while now. But, I sure don't need to start another project! I'll just enjoy watching yours for now.

Great to see you back on here, Steve! This 49 looks to be another stunner. I really like the fender bulges you added: A nice familial style addition. I extended and scooped the stock ones on the 53 Ford I'm wrapping up at the moment. I'll be watching this one...
