I think this is a perfect demonstration of the general "if you don't show it ain't there" rule applied to things like the airbags and coils on the Revell Deuce. On that basis all this beautiful preliminary work will largely disappear. The Torque Thrusts, IMHO, are late 60's cool. The only question in my mind is the body color (at least for now), or non-chrome, bumpers. So, as is generally the case with your work, it's TRaK in spirit for sure and it's down to the visible details. Lovely, lovely stance and proportions. If you ran a Rod Shop and I was Mr. T.R.J. Moneybags you would be building my daily driver street rod for sure!

Thanx Bernard, I appreciate it! The bumpers will definitely be chrome. Kinda thinking about using the stock pieces or maybe the ribbed units from the Revell kit. I'll have a better idea once I get the paint on which will be Fathom Green. The interior is up in the air at the moment. Kinda thinking stock there too. The seats in this old kit are pretty cool. Someone on another board mentioned how it was impossible to get a decent result from this kit. So, I thought I would see what I could do with it.

Like Bernard said, it has a nice late 60s vibe about it. By that 6time you did see a few rods with IFS. Corvair front ends were one option, and the XR-6 and the Dream Rod both sported Volkswagen front suspension, so an IFS conversion might be rare, but not unheard of. As for disk brakes, Studebaker was offering front disks for '62, and all the Big Three had front disks available at least as an option by the mid 60s, so there are in the right time frame. However, if you did go that route, make sure you do your research, and make sure they look right for the period.

Roger, I'm sure your result will be more than decent! And based on what you just wrote I say it's straight down the line TRaKable, no question.

Already has an awesome stance. Looking forward to watching the rest of your build.

Also the Ford 9" has been around since 57 and the wagon rear-end was used in many Hot Rods.

I don't see anything wrong in your choice of parts. With the current stance and rolling stock, the choice of colour and body trim can pretty much make or break the visual appearance as far as "TRaK'ability" goes (Late sixties' Hot Rod vs. seventies/eighties' Street Rod), but since those questions have already been covered, I look forward to following the build!

I think that's the problem with using the Torque Thrust wheels. It could go either way. Nothing else seems to fit it though. Well, except for a set of Pro Stars. But, they won't go with the engine I have. I may end up just going a different direction with it or maybe try a set of '49 wheels and hub caps.

I like it, but it puts me in mind of a milder version of Fat Jack's '46. Anyone who remembers Hot Rod Magazine's fat fendered revival in the mid '80s will recall the received wisdom they put forward was that these cars were "always" built as customs back in the day and never hot rods. Of course there would be exceptions, but as already mentioned above, it's easy for it to tip into street rod territory. Tough call, but I think a definite period powerplant and appropriate paint would help give it credibility and fix it in the TRak era.

OK guys, here it is in color. The green came out a little darker than I wanted. Still TRaKable?

Yup, as long as there'll be chrome... It'll definitely have chrome Bernard! Bumpers, grille and the small strip I added. I don't know if I'll use the bumper guards or not.

Yay! That's lookin' good and will be even better (and more TRAKable) with chrome. The metallic gray color really works for me.
