Hey Greasers. I wanted to put some Astro Supreme wheels on my new Moebius 1961 Pontiac Ventura. The closest thing I have in my stash is the American Torque thrusts from Revell's 1969 Yenko Camaro kit. I know they are more muscle car fodder then custom. So how passible is this? I might just wait to see if my buddy Bart has anything closer in his parts bins. I have to finish my prostreet Superbee and I want to start my Drag city casting chopped 37 chevys before I get around to this so it's not urgent.

Hmmmmm. Tough call. I guess it would depend on your style of build. If you were going for an early Super Stock type of car they might work but I don't think would they would fit a period custom...as you said they are more "muscle car". That's just what I think though. I'll be interested to see some other perspectives on this.

Yeah. I'm not building a Super Stocker.. I want a custom. I might see if my friend has any from the 60 Ford Starliner.

Those would work. Just FYI the AMT 70 Chevy Has a nice set of deep chrome spokes too.

depending on the scale of the 61 would likely look at the 62 that amt had out ones custom so might save time or a set of moon disk those go pretty far back in the rodding world or if the 61 is 1/24 a set of chrome reverse wheels from the revell merc

The Pegasus Sovereign wheels are Astros, and widely available.

The Pegasus Sovereign wheels are Astros, and widely available. Ugh. Those things look like they belong on a Maisto diecast... too large in diameter, the hub is too small, the rim is far too deep and the hub detail is crap. I'd stick with the wheels from the MPC '69 4-4-2 or the AMT '60 Ford.

The AMT '63 Corvette's have deep Astro style 5-spokes that might fit your needs.

Gotta disagree there. The Pegasus wheels measure 17.5 mms. The '60 Ford wheels measure 17.25 mms. That's only a quarter of a mm difference outside lip to outside lip. The hub on the Pegasus wheel measures 6.5 mms. The hub on the '60 Ford wheel measures 7.0 mms. That's only a half of a mm difference. The hub on the Olds wheel is actually smaller at just a touch over 6 mms. The only big difference is in the depth of the centers; 4 mms on the Pegasus wheel, 2.5 on the Ford wheel, 1.5 on the Olds wheel.

Yeah. I got a set from the amt/ ertl 69 Olds 442. I just found a 69 Hurst Olds as well. Both have the same wheels.

Maybe the hubs aren't as undersized as I remembered, but the bolt detail and too-tall centre cap don't look that great to me. I just found these wheels looked too big on a 1/25 car and had too much offset. Here compared with a wheel from an AMT '60 Ford on the left.
