My drawings pale in comparison to very many of the art seen on the previous pages of this section, but I hoped my drawings would say to some of you, "Hey that's the kind of stuff I drew back in the day". The first three drawings below were done when I was in the Air Force, back in March of '68. They were a collaboration of myself and John DeVan from California. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiYeah, we cheated a little bit by finding the center and folding, then tracing to get a symmetrical drawing. I'll post more of my chicken scratches soon, and in the meantime, thanks for looking. Gary

Awesome. Thanks for sharing 'em! I filled pages and pages with car drawings when I was younger; some looked a bit like this...but because I was a kid of the 90s, they're not exactly TRAKable!

I probably drew this 27 T roadster in 1962, give or take a year. I know I was still in high school then. I might have been working on this drawing during class. That's a definite possibility! Hosted on Fotki

This 40 Ford was actually a model I built in the early 60's. The big change was the 61-62 Vette tail end grafted to the rear of the 40. It did actually work out pretty good. I might like to try this again some day! Hosted on Fotki

Those are cool! Especially that '56 Chevy is very nicely done. Seeing through the windshield is a great idea, I've never thought of that in my drawings where all windows are just plain white... (Well, my drawings look like they are made by a 2 year old kid compared to these, but anyway )

This was another early 60's model put to paper. The roof is from a (62?) Buick Electra, the body from the doors back is a 60 Ford, the front fenders and hood (I believe) were from a 60 Buick. The grille was simple and the headlights were custom units from I can't remember where. They were quad headlights in a long oval with something else inside the long oval shape. I'd love to build this again some day! Hosted on Fotki

Just thinkin', Car Model & Model Car Science were very big influences on what I built! I wish I had saved every issue i had!!! Gary

These are awesome, thanks for sharing! The '40 Ford is really cool, and funny coincidence, the 'vette tail is something I saw on a gluebomb Ebay '40 about 6 months ago...but the builder had worked in the fastback roof, too. I filed the idea away as something to maybe try someday using gluebomb bodies.

Wish I still had some my pencil on notebook paper drawings from back then. All I could think of was cars and naturally my school work suffered....greatly! Thanks for posting your cool work and for the memories.

Nothing special about this one. I was just trying to copy a picture in a car magazine I had. Hosted on Fotki

I drew this AMX Funny Car in November of 1968, a few months before I got out of the US Air Force. By a small twist of fate, in May of 1969 after my discharge, I sold my 56 Chevy convertible and bought a red 68, Go-Pac AMX. It was a pretty nice little car but I only kept it for a few months when I found my 66 Stingray convertible. Hosted on Fotki

In December of 1968, I came up with this idea for a Chevy Vette-Camaro custom. I took liberties with body proportions to make the mods flow. I think this might be a viable concept for a model too. Hosted on Fotki

These 2 have been made into models in the last few years, after being on paper since the 60's. The Vette was just a line drawing that I tinkered with. Some of it made it onto the model and some, like the side, vents didn't. Hosted on FotkiI had every intent on building the stretched Camaro back then, but since I was overseas I couldn't find another Camaro kit. I did build the stock wheelbase model as a funny car though. By the way, that kit could be built as a convertible or a coupe. Was that a 67 Camaro kit? Hosted on FotkiThis one did make it onto my desk though not too much of it remains. The Engine was the double blower Hemi from the Studebaker kit, but the hood was modified by using sprue, balsa, and putty, not the clear Stude hood! Why I did that is I probably couldn't figure how to meld the two hoods into one like I drew. Also another I could try to recreate! Hosted on FotkiThanks for checking back. I still have more to post!
