This build has reached the point where every time I improve or upgrade one thing, I find 2 more things to upgrade. Sheesh! Having lotsa fun with it though. Today, I replaced the primitive intake and carbs with a Revell tri-carb intake from the '32 sedan kit. I'll be using Replicas & Miniatures resin Strombergs and frog-mouth scoops. Another thing that I decided to upgrade is the windshield frame. It finally dawned on me that it looked odd because it didn't have stanchions, so I added some cut from a Revell '32 roadster windshield.

I know what you mean on the improvements! Often with these older kits, one small modification here seems to be leading into two other modifications there. And then the "simple" project just snowballs into a major work. That has happened me before, and it will happen again too. But despite that I think it's really cool to try to bring these older kits a bit more up to today's standards. You're doing excellent work with this legendary car. It's interesting to see the finished product.

Cool beans!* You're really capturing that box art vibe. It's nice to see a well-built model that overcomes the original kit's shortcomings. A flagman figure would look great, too. * Somehow that phrase popped into my mind when I saw this. I had thought that it was from my childhood in the '60s but, apparently, it's from the late '60s and later. Here's online info about it: www.quora.com/Where-does-the-phrase-cool-beans-originate-from?share=1 .

Stick a fork in this one. Later on, I'll take some better pics and post it in the "On the Freakin' Shelf" section.

Great job Randy, what you've done with that motor is far and away better than what came out of the box. Your attention to detail has transformed it to another level. The dude driving scares me!

Haha, awesome. Great detailing work, it gives the model some extra "pop" and reduces the somewhat toy-like appearance of the original kit. I love that skull-faced driver with his rat-fink shirt!
