I have two thoughts here...one...didn't a lot of drag cars have no front brakes? two...in the pictures of the real car, it looks like it has small brakes...maybe like the one in the Tweedy Pie? They could be sanded quite thin and applied to the wheel backs? Just my thoughts

I do have a set of Tweedy Pie brakes somewhere

ohhh...then if the class was to have brakes...ignore my first thought! lol I take it you do not want the entire wheel back to be "brake"? I think I have a full wheel back that "is" a brake looking thing. Looks like a Lincoln brake from the old days if I remember correctly.

It's hard to see in the pic, but the 40 ford backing plate needs material around it to look as if there is a drum behind it. If I go that route, I'll need to source a parts box item to resemble the drum.

I’m not an authority so hopefully someone with more knowledge chimes in but I think if ‘65 is your target year that you’d be safe with disc brakes. Halibrand sold kits using Airheart calipers. That is what’s rendered in the Orange Crate. Off course that car was an Altered and had rear brakes only but front kits were available to fit Ford spindles.

The Luzader coupe featured in Rodder's Journal has Halibrands and discs, so I'm going in that direction.

Those look to be Airheart calipers.

Just saw this video on the HAMB, and the headers through the fenders reminded me of your build.

Travis, Looks really good up on four tires! Sometimes you just have to step back, build something else or just get reinspired. We've all been there a time or three! LoL! Looks like the later 4-speed is going to work a whole lot better than that long-tailed Y-Block era transmission, the Looooong-Ladder Bars look the part. Build On!

Heh Travis....about a week away from finishing my '30A 5WC that is heavily inspired by the Luzader car as well. Worked through many of the same issues you did, with somewhat different results (including trying to limit parts sources to just a few kits, and a looming deadline for completion). Really cool to see you used a Y-Block, too!
Looks like you've come a long way and solved most of the engineering problems, too. Very, very promising! Best of luck as you work on this one from time to time, and please keep us updated as you make progress.
