A 354 Hemi with out accessories weighs 720 pounds, a 392 Hemi without accessories weight 740 pounds with your intake set up drops 40 pounds aluminum heads drop it another 110 pounds. Close to the 585 of an SBC. The 426 in street trim weighs in at 843 pounds. Not as light as most think.

I really like that Custom Grill, it really works!! Everything else that's going in with this El Camino is pretty cool as well, especially when you consider that it is almost all circa 1964 AMT tooling not known to be the most state of the art detail wise. I know that the Revell '66 Chevelle chassis almost slid right under my AMT '64/'65 Chevelle Surfer Wagon. About the only modification that I had to do was fit the firewall to the chassis and the rear wheel tubs to the sides of the wagon body, that's it! Adds a ton more detail, Big Block Chevy dropped in like it was supposed to be there from the get go, so your Hemi should fit there too!
I like the '64 & '65 Stock Chevelle / El Camino grills too. Reminds me of one of my uncles, who ordered and paid cash for a brand spankin' new '64 maroon El Camino in SS trim. First Chevrolet dealership he went to wouldn't take cash in hand (as in cash money). Ended up going to another dealer (an hour and a half away). Second dealer took over the order from the other dealer, then gladly took his minty dollar bills without financing a penny. Still laugh at the pure stupidity of that story, I thought everybody took cash money! My uncle always saved up then paid cash for almost everything he ever bought. I think he may have had his first dollar; not surprisingly, raised by my Depression Era grandparents who had the same mindset when it came to money.

Looks great Gary. About the time of your build somebody came out with wrinkle finish paint, which was often the choice for accessories if you couldn't afford chrome plating. For a future build on a hemi you might try Rustoleum Fine Textured paint for the valve covers and valley cover. Gives a nice period look. I also use it for distributor bases and Frankenstein magnetos.

You're welcome. Sorry it took so long.
I think it came from an original issue kit because it still had 1965 engraved on the license plate area. The couple other ones I had were blank
