Had this kit for a while. I bought it originally to use the 1938 grill on a 32 Ford and for the Flattie. Well I've decided after seeing an article on a pick up called Lime Light to use some of the ideas from it and break my modellers block. I started chopping the roof 1.5 mm and flattening out the roof crown to give the illusion of it being lower and longer than it really is.. Next step is to shorten the front of the bed 6mm, eliminate the side mount spare and shorten the chassis the same amount. Mods for the nose right now hing on what engine I use. I have a few in mind. A Studebaker Paxton Blown R-2, replace the 221 c.i. flathead with a 1962 Fairlane Paxton blown 221 c.i. V8 or third choice is a Jaguar DOHC six.

Nice work on the chop Paul. I'm liking those engine choices too.

I think I know the project "Lime Light" you referenced. I'm interested! Especially if you use a Jag 6!

Got a bit more done. Took 6mm out of the front of the bed and sides. Reason being, I wanted the rear fenders to be centered in the bed and the bed side recesses to match front and rear of the fenders. Took 6mm out if the chassis between the X member and the kick up. The kit has a lowered rear spring and dropped front axle, but the rear was a bit higher than the front, so I modified the rear spring and hanger to lower it 1.5mm. On the power choice, the Studebaker R-2 is too wide to fit with out a big bit of modifying the fender area which kills my intended look.

Got the paint on the body, first time I used Mission Models paint. Iridescent Blue with their clear. I'm on the fence if I like it. Hosted on Fotki

I think that's a nice color also! sometimes (as I remember) , I would paint something and think "damn did I make a mistake?" Nope, after going through the build and things start coming together, it made sense again like in my mind before the paint was shot. I am sure you will be glad you painted it this color and I am looking forward to seeing the progress :-)
