I decided to try a 50 Olds grille & bumper set for the Fleetline. The Olds parts are resin copies from a diecast, & the body was narrower than the AMT Chevy kit. So, I ended up widening both of them to fit the Chevy body. Once I got the grille the right width, I added styrene to the front edge of the hood & grille opening on the body. After sanding & a little massaging. I still need to do lots of fine tuning, & may do something different instead of those big from bumper guards. The rear bumper fit okay with no modifications, but I still need to fine tune. Steve

IMHO, those bumpers are massive on such a sleekly customized car. Otherwise, I really like it so far.

That is beautiful. I think I agree about the bumper size though.

Steve, great work! I assume you always strip your chrome to clean up mold lines and have it re-chromed....am i assuming correctly? It really shows and i think it's definately worth it! (i think you do right?)

Maybe shave the bumper guards and add a pair of Dagmars in their place... or just use it smooth.

Your Fleetline project looks fantastic!!!
IMHO, I think you should leave the bumpers just as they are - I don't think the heavy "jaws" interferes with the elegant lines of the car. Have you thought about making a mold for the widened bumpers/grille?
BTW I think the chop is just about the best proportioned I've EVER seen on a Fleetline...

I think smoothing the bumpers is the way to go. I'm impressed with the top chop. Somehow, I have to learn to do that. I've chopped a few, but I'd never have the nerve to try a fastback. Very good!

Thanks for all the comments! Good suggestions, too. I photoshopped it without bumper guards, & the grille opening looked way big. Time will tell which way I will go.!
