Thinking some more about my Tognotti's T example I think the context is as important as the date of the parts and when they were first sighted on a "hot rod". I must admit to being slightly surprised at the 1964 date on the King T but it should serve to remind us what a rich and dynamic period that was for hot ridding and how broad and eclectic the results were. The "street rod" idiom as discussed here is a later hybrid of the traditional look of older bodies wrapped around explicitly contemporary technologies. Ironically, that's exactly what Tognotti was doing, but stylistically the car is a show rod at the very height of style and originality for when it was built. So, once we get past dating the parts we still have to contend with whether the look of the model is true to the spirit of the pre-69 rule. Tognotti's T was to spawn numerous resto-rods and show cars with Jag rear ends throughout the latter half of the 60's, but I doubt that any of them had 19" modular wheels, stylized machined aluminum parts or pastel paint jobs. Those things just weren't "in the air" yet. For most of these cars, wire wheels, brass lamps and antique detailing was more likely the rule of the day.

Nobody is restricting any creativity here... Well, yes and no Bob. That wasn't what I was saying but that's a whole other debate about group identity, peer pressure and the need to conform and belong and this isn't the place for it. I like it here but there are rules and I do sometimes have to fight my urge to kick against the jams. And now I have to go and drive round the sh1t drying pans here at the poo farm and do my regular check that all is OK with our sh1t stirring crews (see, more rules)...

There are barely any rules here Fred. I only ask that people post models that pertain to our "purpose"...this isn't any run of the mill model forum. I am sure you noticed people can say farg here and not get banned...it's a place away from the BS...just for us TRaK lovers.

It's not a complaint Bob. Just a comment.
I appreciate that "adult" language is tolerated. Hell, I once got a thread deleted on SA for using the obscenity "vomit".
