Yesterday I added a third row (only six) of louvers. I had to arrange all three rows per side to conform to the shape of the hood. Now my problem. I want to use the "Moonglow" hubcaps from Replicas & Miniatures on this model. I don't seem to have a wheel that they can be used in, and then there's the problem of nice whitewall tires that will fit the rims. I've modified the rear axle housing for a 1/16" metal axle, and may also do the same to the front. Maybe I should be asking Norm about this but I thought I might run it by you guys too. Any thoughts? Gary

I have had luck using non trakable wheels that happen to have the right inside diameter for the hubcap. I find quite a few of the centerline and mid 90's rims have a great amount of detail at the outer rim area and once stripped of the chrome look like a steel wheel once the hubcap is added. Don't know about the moonglow caps specifically but thought this might help.

Here's another picture update. Not really happy with this picture 'cause it makes some changes look way out of scale. I've finished the front and rear window trim ( which looks WAY too thick), and added and finished the drip rails. I used .025 round rod for this and shaved it a little bit so there'd be a flat surface to glue it to the roof. After a day, and the glue set enough, I sanded it to a shape that would be similar to the real thing. I had been thinking about adding a small streak trailing behind the headlights, so they're there too. I again used .025 round and shaved it down to about .015, then glued them in place. After the glue was set, I sanded them down in a triangular shape and tapered the ends. I'll need to do just a little bit of filling along the edges. Gary

Nice work. At first glance, I don't think the windshield trim looks too thick. But, I know how you feel. Give it a few days, take more photos, & if it still looks thick to you, sand a bit off the opening.

That looks sa-weet! I really like the prominence of the bonnet bulge. Put some primer on and then re-assess everything. Things always look different in primer and you can always shave some off later. Can't wait to see some colour on there Gary...

Well, here's the final update for this year. I finished the mods to the suspension and wheels today, and here's where she sits. No way could I get it any lower but I like it where it is. I took the picture with the box behind it so the difference between now and stock can be seen. Gary

Looks great Gary!
If you want to drop the body a little closer to the ground, the AMT '51 Chevies are fairly easy to channel by removing a sliver of the interior sides (remember to adjust the rear edge of the sides and the panel behind the rear seat to match up) and the firewall/inner fenders.
